Not a British naval ship, the retirement of Humble Master!
http://theboard.byu.edu/questions/59534/
Congrats on not only one of the most accomplished reigns, but on the best retirement post I know of to date. All writers who have a reign over 2 years should be required to submit a personal writer history modeled after yours.
On a somewhat controversial note, who does everyone think are the most elite retired writers? I don't want to snub anyone, but I feel like Humble Master, Katya, Claudio, and Pa Grape are in a class entirely their own. Am I missing anyone who had as good of reigns as they did? Ah! Maybe Optimus Prime is in there?

I just sent that quote to Claudio. Hopefully his head will fit through the door of the corpse flaying room that he's been entering lately.

I think he was the last of the writers who were around when I started reading. Man...
Bye, HM!

Yellow and CPM are actually immortal. I don't know if that's in the archives, but it's true.

I believe it! And they'll never leave the Board; they'll just gradually become incorporated into the mainframe.

Goodbye, Humble Master. You were a great Board writer, and you will be missed. What a great farewell post!
I'll also miss the 100 Typing Monkeys. So clever and fun!

Humble Master is indeed a legend around these parts... AND THE MONKEYS ARE GONE! Oh, how I loved the monkeys...

Humble Master, you were one of the few left from when I first started reading the Board and you and your alternate 'nyms are some of my favorites. You'll be very missed.
(also, wired, you should add Uffish to the list).

Humble Master was probably one of my favorite writers ever. I knew him long before either of us had heard of the Board. I convinced him to apply, even though he was no longer at BYU. His app blew the writers out of the water. I've never seen any application have so little controversy. Everyone just agreed that he should write. He made a great competitor in stats. (Even though he ended up beating me. Though,
only because I retired.) He's been fun to tease and to tease back. He's a fantastic former co-worker, writer, and friend. I'm gonna miss seeing him on the Board, since I rarely get to see him anywhere else. Here's to hoping that someday he ends up as a professor at BYU. And that Yellow and I are still around these parts when that day comes.
Oh, and thanks for the competition there at the end. Even if neither of us got a clear win. We'll both always know that I know more about Harry Potter.

And I can always pretend that I forced you into retirement.

I am really going to miss Humble Master as well! Sad. He is probably the only writer I have ever addressed a question to directly (because it was really fun to hear about the world of comic books). I've always enjoyed seeing his answers. And to loose 100 Monkeys and Loki in the same go . . . Sad, sad day.

You know, I just realized something: the Board has just lost 102 writers at once. That's got to be a record.

Thanks everyone. I had a blast writing for the Board, but I knew I couldn't keep up with the time commitment as a writer much longer.
