This is a good one.

1. Green Christmas -Barenaked Ladies
2. Ye Elders of Israel - Some BYU CD
3. Girls On Film - Duran Duran
4. Time - Hootie and the Blowfish
5. O Come, O Come Emmanuel - Enya

Wow, that's random. No wonder I just hit next a lot to find songs I'm actually in the mood to listen to.

1. "Romeo and Juliet, Overture-Fantasy, Part E" by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky
2. "Tradition" by Fiddler on the Roof
3. "Belle (Reprise)" by Beauty and the Beast: The Broadway Musical
4. "Yes, Brothers Warner We" by Animaniacs
5. "Sirens Crash and The Call/The Dance/The Singing Contest/Farewell" by Mannheim Steamroller

I am ever so slightly embarrased to say that the above list is pretty typical for me to listen to at any one time. The only thing that came closest to being "cool" was number 6: "Midnight Blue" by Electric Light Orchestra ("cool" being interpreted pretty loosely).

How Deep Is Your Love - The Bird and the Bee
Love Song - Sara Bareilles
Love Today - Mika
I Found a Reason - The Velvet Underground
I Was Born (a Unicorn) - The Unicorns

Weird that the first three were all "love" songs.

1)Randy Newman - Strange Things (Toy Story)
2)E Nomine - Das Rad Des Schicksals
3)Tchaikovsky - Dance of the Reed Flutes (Nutcracker Suite)
4)Evan & Jaron - Crazy For This Girl
5)Gregorian - Scarborough Fair

I was thinking as I browsed the writer's selections that I don't know many of the artists they listed. Now that I look at my own list I begin to see why. Tack on song number six: Echelon by 30 Seconds to Mars and you've got a fair cross section of my iTunes collection. Other music collections would offer somewhat different results.

If we skip over books on tape:
1. Night and Day - Frank Sinatra
2. Runaway - Mae
3. Rejoice Greatly, O Daughter of Zion from Handel's Messiah
4. Down in the River to Pray - Step by Step
5. Balikuli Balombwana - Heavenly Echoes Choir

Hmm, those are reasonably representative of my musical tastes. Perhaps leaning a bit towards the "obscure church groups who make rockin' awesome a capella cds as fundraisers" end of things, but not bad.

AFI - Exsanguination
The Smiths - Vicar in a Tutu
Elvis Costello - Hand in Hand
Devo - Shrivel-Up
Radiohead - Let Down

Thanks for not letting ME down, iTunes!

I hope I don't get embarrassed by this.

1. Money for Christmas -- The Gringotts Goblins
2. The Chairman's Waltz -- Jenny Oaks Baker
3. I Can't Take My Eyes Off of You -- High School Musical
4. Everybody Pass Me By -- Pepe Deluxe (from the Holes OST)
5. River -- Joni Mitchell

Eh, not too bad.

Well, my playlist is currently shuffling through Enya. So…

1. Flora's Secret
2. Tempus Vernum
3. Silver Inches
4. The Memory of Trees
5. Pilgrim

If I go to my normal playlist that is just a mix of stuff I'd get…

1. Once Upon a December from Anastasia
2. Life in Technicolor by Coldplay
3. Paper Moon by Vocal Point
4. At The River by MoTab
5. Only Hope by Switchfoot

(Actually, #2 should have been Christmas Mirror by The Butterbeer Experience off the Jingle Spells 2 album, but it's unchecked since it's not Christmas season yet.)

Yeah. My normal playlist is very… uh… varied.

Embraceable You-Billie Holliday
I Only Want To Be With You- Me First and the Gimme Gimmes
Hey Ya!- Outkast
Agnus Dei- The Platoon Version (Samuel Barber)
I'll Cry Instead- The Beatles

I'm SHOCKED that a musical didn't pop up!! most of my library is made up of showtunes, so that's really something.

Interesting...

Death and All His Friends - Coldplay
Fool in the Rain - Led Zeppelin
Say You Will - Foreigner
Shambala - Three Dog Night
Sensation - The Who

Man, Coldplay looks way out of place there. :-P

Do you also obsessively listen to Messiah? I absolutely do. People often wonder how I can quote the Old Testament so extensively, but I don't want to tell them my secret because then I'd look less awesome.

I'm vain like that.

Haha, I listen to it obsessively too!

My sister always used to quote the verse "wonderful! counselor!...." as "wonderful! marvelous!" (this was in her much younger years, when she would also, instead of saying her hands were full, exclaim she was "full of hands.")

The Messiah is one of the greatest pieces of music ever written, and I adore it. I love listening to it when I'm in the car by myself and belting the soprano solos as loud as I can. I love when ridiculously talented people create epic words of art that glorify God.

On a more irreverent note, I remember the day a few years ago when I told my roommate, "I'm going to run to the store and buy the Messiah." And we both cracked up.

1. Schism - Tool
2.Silver***k - The Smashing Pumpkins
3. Galapagos - The Smashing Pumpkins
4. No Spill Blood - Oingo Boingo
5. That Ain't Love - REO Speedwagon

Kinda dissapointed that there's two Smashing Pumpkins songs there. Don't get me wrong, I love the Pumpkins, but was hoping to demonstrate a bit more diversity. (I will admit one cheat though; I skipped a Mana song that came up because it isn't titled and I'm too lazy to look up the name.)

yeah, I don't know how to generate a shuffle playlist either. I refer everyone to my musical tastes chart: http://whistlerbyu.blogspot.com/2008/07 ... tures.html
