Well, it might not be as cool as a meet 'n' greet with the reanimated ghost of P. G. Wodehouse, but Scott Westerfeld (Uglies, etc.) is coming to town, apparently!
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 30
12:00PM
Provo County Library
550 North University Avenue
Provo, UT 84601
My keynote speech requires tickets, and I hear they’re sold out! But google “Provo Book Festival” for details.
Anyone already going? What are your opinion on these books? I think they're well-plotted, dystopia-lite, and at least there're no glittering vampires who want to marry eighteen-year-olds. Any other similar books (Hunger Games, The Giver) that you love/hate?

I loved the Hunger Games trilogy, and I LOVED The Giver. In fact, it is among my favorite books to this day.

Craig, what did you think of The Giver's sequels (Gathering Blue and Messenger?)

Also, I just realized The Giver was published in 1993. So it was actually fairly new when I first read it. I guess I had assumed it'd been around forever.
