I didn't want to ask while the Board is still dealing with Record Breaker and thought that the discussion here might be interesting. So here's my question:
What is the predominate genre of Myst?

The books or the games?

Having never played Myst all the way through, I've always perceived it was a puzzle game.

Yellow, who loves both books and games a lot says:
Myst games: adventure
books: Something akin to near-realistic fantasy
I would add that the games are indeed a puzzle, like wired says.

It's definitely adventure, but I'd say it's in a sub-genre of puzzle. My favorite game of this type was called "Shivers." I used to stay up all night playing that.

I watched my siblings play Shivers as a child and it still creeps me out
