I'm watching the news right now and guys, we've lost the Provo Tabernacle to fire. Or pretty much. The roof just collapsed and they're not having much luck in fighting the fire.

It's so sad. And it was the first thing I saw this morning, in every Facebook status.

I just drove by and it's basically a smoking shell of a building. Sad day

There was so much wood in that building, I'd be surprised to see much left in there. I hope they restore it. That would be really cool.

Is the nativity play still happening? That was my favorite.

I too hope that the Church decides to rebuild. It was a beautiful building.

My sister's Facebook status was asking people what events they'd gone to at the Tabernacle. I really wanted to say "a barbecue" but decided that would be inappropriate. HM's graphic just reminded me of that.

Yeah, that probably wouldn't be very appreciated...
I've been to a few stake conferences and a choir concert there. I also went exploring around the perimeter with my husband while we were dating. We found an abandoned scoreboard in the bushes by the boiler room (the big smokestack just west of the tabernacle). Totally random. I wonder if it's still there.

This was a very cool building. I'll miss it dearly.
I remember as a kid being completely enamored by those blocked-off spiral staircases, wondering what was hidden there. That was a great place for exploring.

Cami is so obsessed with the tabernacle right now. She's been talking about it non-stop, including begging for 'field trips,' singing about it ("All I want for Christmas is a new tabernacle"), and saying that she dreamed about it. Looking at pictures and footage of the fire upset her, but she kept trying to look at them and read the news article mom had up on the computer for a while. She's an odd little six-year-old.

The mayor said it looks like WWII inside. I wish they would snap some photos and post them...I don't know why it's so captivating, but it is.

Here's a photo from the mayor's blog:

That is...depressing.

Kinda like roadkill. It's gross, but you can't help but look at it.
