So, this is somewhat pertaining to the conference discussion, but I thought it fit better here.
Did you get the announcement on Sunday that they are going to be moving all of the YSA wards in Salt Lake and (i think) Davis Counties into Single Adult Stakes? I kind-of feel like this is another attempt to get the singles mingling together more. From what I've heard, it's going to make the setup of YSA wards similar to what they have at BYU.
I personally think it sounds like a good idea, but at the same time, it'll be weird to have absolutely no interaction with the family wards again.

For what it's worth, they did this in Cache Valley in August, and it's worked really well. The point of our stakes is to be to the rescue; since there are clearly defined wards that you are supposed to be in, there's less ward-hopping, it's easier to tell where people should be and go find them. (I haven't personally rescued anybody, but that's because I don't know anyone.)
It is kind of sad not to be in the same church building as my family anymore, but this way I am more likely to run into a cute guy in one of the other singles' wards in my building. Not that it's ever happened. But the chances are higher.
Anyway. Point being, it's a good thing. To answer your original question, no I did not get that announcement. But it is the cool thing to do.
C is for Card-Carrying member of the [stake name redacted] YSA 2nd ward.

Thanks, C4. I'm glad to hear some positive experiences. It's going to be interesting, that's for sure - especially since according to our Executive Secretary, I'm in the part of our ward boundaries that will be moving to a new ward when they reorganize the stakes.

That's actually the part of this that I don't like. One of my favorite people and his sister ended up having to switch wards when we reorganized (due to some stake shuffling in the past) and they're not as happy there as they were in our old ward. I'm sure there are other dissatisfied people in other reorganized wards, but ... what can you do but bloom like a little purple pansy?

Definitely got this announcement. I'm surprised at how fast they're moving. I agree that the main purpose sounds like it's to make it easier to keep track of people. Our bishop told us that 70% of church members in the YSA bracket are inactive, and I'm guessing a good part of that is people attending different wards. I could tell you stories about crazy ward boundaries, or lack of boundaries, that I've seen in Salt Lake. The saddest thing for me is that they're going to start really enforcing the age limit for singles' wards, and a lot of my favorite people in my ward are actually over 31. But at the same time it will be really nice to mix things up and meet new people. And if I can't get together with my friends because they're not in my ward, then probably the friendship wasn't that strong anyway.
