Is it still a bad idea to wear a skirt on an airplane trip? I heard that because it's voluminous and all, you get an extra check in case you're hiding something. Is that still the case even with the new machines?

Anyone know?

I wore a skirt on a trip a few months ago, and I didn't go through any more security than usual.

I've never heard of people getting extra security checks wearing a skirt, but I saw this show on the learning channel about 10 years ago about this girl who was in a plane that crashed over the jungle and she said she was lucky she had worn jeans and a long-sleeved shirt because it helped her survive. So ever since I saw that I've worn jeans and a long-sleeved shirt when I fly. Since 90% of the flying I've done has been between Calgary and either Provo or Halifax, it makes a lot of sense. I could end up crashing over the jungles of Manitoba or Idaho Falls or something.

Well, wearing my skirt wasn't a problem. What was a problem was that I took off my watch for the scan, stuck it in the bin, and somehow it got removed...and it's missing.

I don't know what to do with myself if I don't know what time it is. I'll buy a new one in Kansas, if I can stand any of the styles they have for little kids (the only size that fits me).

Oh, I'm so with you about the watch thing. I once walked all the way home from school only to realize I left my watch in my office, and I had to go back and get it because I can't deal with not knowing what time it is.
