Board Question #63907
Does anyone have any other ideas what the asker is trying to get at here? I thought maybe it's that men are more likely to squeeze out a few extra drops (top off) than women are, but I don't think that's true. I must admit, I'm curious to know what the secret is. I think it would tell us more about the asker's views on gender than on any actual gender difference.

Male here. The first thing I always try to remember to do after returning the pump is screw back on the fuel cap.

Re: Differences in Finishing
Whenever my little brother pumps gas he will shake the hose after it clicks off, I believe in an effort to get whatever might be left in there into the car. Not sure if it does any good, but it's pretty funny to watch.

Re: Differences in Finishing
I've only pumped gas four or five times in my entire life (Oregonian), but I wouldn't be surprised if men are more likely to shake off excess drops, simply as a result of how they go to the bathroom.
Re: Differences in Finishing
Sort of related to the topic of fueling up vehicles, I've seen at the rest areas by the interstate freeways in my home state of Virginia free outlets for charging up electric vehicles. My understanding, though, is that it can take hours to actually fill up with the current state of technology.

I'm a man who always shakes, puts it back, then screws on the cap. I hate getting gas on my car.
Re: Differences in Finishing
I just put gas in my car today and still don't remember what I did at the end. The question seemed to me like an attempt at finding a really silly, meaningless difference between how men and women do something. Maybe I'm getting cynical...er. Cynicaler.

Well, I thought the same thing. And I don't think I'm cynical. Or Cynicaler.mic0 wrote:I just put gas in my car today and still don't remember what I did at the end.
