Do i-devices and smart phones support PDFs? (I.e., can you read one on them?)

I've looked at a PDF on my iPhone 3GS using the Safari browser and with the free iBooks app. With the iBooks app, you can store PDFs for offline viewing.
For instance, if you have the iBooks app on your device, Safari will detect that you have that app and when you go to a web page that has a PDF and click on it, the device will tell you that you can view it in Safari or put it on your iBooks bookshelf.

On my Android phone I had to get an app to be able to read PDFs, but once you do that they work fine.

Pdf support is native on iOS. You can also use a number of iOS applications to open them, including adobe reader.

My new phone has support for pdfs, as well as excel and word documents. or at least this is what I've been told. I haven't actually turned on the phone, as I got it about two hours ago.
