Almost Asked- Muscle soreness

So, due to recent experience, I was wondering about muscle soreness, or as I found Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness.
I wondered about what causes it, and why it is that after doing something that gets you sore once, you don't get sore later doing the same thing.
Well, I looked around a little bit, and at least according to Wikipedia, no one is really sure yet. But, it is thought that the cause is some kind of tissue damage, though what kind specifically is unknown. And the second part has a name, "repeated-bout effect," but its cause is also unknown, but it's effects are reasonably long lasting.
Fun stuff!
