So, I don't know that I would say I've met people that I felt I knew in the pre-earth life. But the two friends that I became close to quickly (as in it didn't take me months to let them in) I had a distinct impression within five minutes of first meeting them that they would be important in my life.

I can definitely see where saying/thinking you met someone before earth can be a problem, but I don't think that it has to be. If our social connections can exist after this life, why couldn't they exist before this life?

Yeah, the writers came down pretty hard (and factually incorrect.) It IS, in fact, doctrinal, that we did associate with and make friendships with those around us. It stands to reason that we might encounter someone near us with whom we would've had one of those relationships. And the spirit does NOT only reveal things on a "need-to-know" basis. Think about the brother of Jared. The stronger our connection with the spirit, the more we can peer beyond the veil to see those things.

While I would agree that it is likely that people would think it happens far more than it actually does (probably, as has been mentioned, some form of Deja Vu) to throw it out of the realm of possibility is counter-productive. A revelation of that sort could fit quite well into us opening ourselves up (as in Unit's experience) to others, and engaging in stronger connections.

All that being said, no revelation or knowledge ought to be used to condone immorality. But knowledge incorrectly applied doesn't make the truth any less true.

When I read this question, I didn't immediately place it into a romantic context. I was thinking more along the lines of Eliot's second post, which I think is possible, though it's never happened to me personally.
