(source) The Philippines is pretty progressive, compared to most Asian countries, but I was still surprised upon learning about this.

In high school I was part of the Real Deal Club. Our annual meeting consisted of going on a half mile run at the stroke of midnight on New Years Day (usually below zero in WI) in only our running shoes.

At Vassar, we had a tradition called Primal Scream. We'd go out on the quad at midnight of finals weeks and scream at the top of our lungs and then the college president served us pancakes. Seniors would streak (anyone could join, but it was mainly for seniors). I did it my senior spring, and it was a lot of fun. but i also brought a dress so i could wear clothes back home.
