70055--dating and bishops

My bishop tried to shame me into going on a date with the girl I was sitting with at munch and mingle the other day. He asked me as he sat down "Have you known [girl] long enough to ask her on a date yet?"
She looked at him and said "He's known me too long."
I said "Plus she's a little too short for me." At this point, I stood up, and she stood next to me. I put out my arm straight from my side, and she didn't hit it.
At this point the bishop got up and walked away without saying anything else.

I'm sorry, but we need to address this, "Mulch and Mingle"!?!? What on earth weird thing is that???

Linger longer? The post-sacrament meeting Singles' Ward device for giving people free food, in hopes of bringing a return in marriage? That doesn't work?

You said "mulch" instead of "munch"

Well, it is far more fun to mulch than munch while mingling...

Haha! I read "mulch"! And it was way more confusing. I was just trying to catch up on things while listening in on a boring conference call. Serves me right for thinking I could get away with that...
Still munch and mingle sounds like a stupid thing too.

See, I would actually go to a mulch and mingle. If nothing else, you'd at least get some gardening done.

I agree. Mulching and mingling sounds like a blast. Although I'd probably be so concentrated on the mulching, I doubt I'd do much mingling. But truth be told, I do the same with munching at a munch and mingle.

Come on people, free food! I personally would just always avoid anyone male at these things.
On a related note, I always feel a little awkward at single's ward activities, like I'm cheating to play their games and eat their food when I'm already dating someone.

That's not so bad. When I first showed up in Boston for my summer study program my two LDS roommates invited me to a church activity--them not realizing I was married and me not realizing they attended a singles ward. It was awkward all around, but I did eat the food.

Yes, sorry if unclear. That was just one summer in Boston a few years ago. I'm currently living with my wife and daughter.
