As many of you know, I used to be a BYU "nude" art model (by "nude" I mean we wore bikinis). As I read this I thought to myself, "Well, sometimes it was a bit cold, and sometimes my whole legs fell asleep, but overall I would say I was ok. Thanks for your concern, though."

For a month or two while I worked at the BYU Bookstore I was in charge of the art section. I had to turn a lot of books facing outward in order to fill up the shelves, and I would often choose books with nudes or semi-nudes on the covers just for kicks. I would usually come back the next day to all of those books turned backward.

From our work manual:
Likely targets for mutilation are news, photography, fashion, and other popular magazines as well as books dealing with sexual topics or those heavily illustrated with photographs, drawings, or paintings of nudes. "Coffee table books" with full-color reproductions of famous art works or exceptional photography may also be targets. Mutilations most often occur in secluded areas with little traffic. Mutilators motivated by prurient interests often will tend to have large numbers of magazines with them looking for provocative pictures or text.

That is fascinating.
I once read through a book (I forget which one, now) where every swear word was blacked out by someone with a marker. It was kind of fun to come up with alternative words to fill the spaces.

Yarjka, how did you get your hands on the book my aunt gave me when I was 12? :) Just kidding, but she gave me a book that was about abstinence before marriage written by a Christian and she still found words to black out!

I got a book from the library recently that someone had crossed a bunch of stuff out and written in, but it was things like replacing "yeah" with "yes" when the characters spoke. It was really weird.
