Neighbor dilemma

Our downstairs neighbor is a single woman, probably around 30 or so, that we have very little interaction with. She smokes a lot of pot, smokes a lot of tobacco, and tends to play music at extreme, bass-thumping-through-the-floor volumes. I appreciate a good rock out, I do. And we're hardly quiet ourselves, especially with my children's tendency to stomp and jump and cry. The walls in this old place are thin. So out of mutual pardon, we never made a fuss about it until the past few weeks. (Although Sauron has complained separately to the manager about the smoke, which makes his sinuses go crazy and is not allowed.)
Sometimes her music can go on for hours. (On Valentine's Day, for example, it was literally for six hours straight.) And today, I just couldn't take it. My kids were trying to sleep, I had a headache and hoped to take a nap, everybody was after-church-grumpy. I went down to ask her to turn it down. I had to wait between songs so that she could hear my knock. She seemed pretty...put-out. We had a fairly diplomatic talk that included statements like, "I only do it during the day, I get to have a good time too, I just do my chores to some good music," and when I mentioned that I'm sure we're loud sometimes, she said that she understands that my kids are kids, but we were once so loud that a lamp fell "off her wall" and broke. I'm not sure what that means, exactly, but I apologized for it, and I'm going to work with my kids on being quieter. She did turn the music down a little.
Sauron has asked her once before to turn her music down, while he was studying, and she obliged. I'm now at the point where I feel like if we ever asked her to turn it down again, there would be some contention. She's probably not a big fan of us, either. I'm not sure what to do, and we're hardly blameless. Make her brownies and leave a note thanking her for her patience? Tell the landlord we need some freaking sound insulation in this place? What would you do?
