I'm a little surprised to hear Yay's friend give a warning about Terry Pratchett's attitudes towards religion, because I've found many of his books (especially the DEATH series) to be profoundly spiritually moving. That said, I haven't read any of the books from the Gods subseries, which presumably deals more directly with religion. (Or perhaps she's conflating religion as a spiritual practice with religion as an institution. Pratchett is a satirist, so he's obviously going to poke fun at the latter, which I have no problem with.)
