I'm a little surprised to hear Yay's friend give a warning about Terry Pratchett's attitudes towards religion, because I've found many of his books (especially the DEATH series) to be profoundly spiritually moving. That said, I haven't read any of the books from the Gods subseries, which presumably deals more directly with religion. (Or perhaps she's conflating religion as a spiritual practice with religion as an institution. Pratchett is a satirist, so he's obviously going to poke fun at the latter, which I have no problem with.)

Yeah... Satire on religion. But seriously. It's obviously written as satire, and I personally feel that if you can't see what (to other people) is amusing about your religion, and laugh about it, and not be offended, and still believe, then you're doing something wrong.
