Yeah, wget is nice, but I'm sure CPM is aware of it. 
Its big drawback for most people would probably be that it doesn't come with Windows or Mac (surprisingly, although I invariably end up installing it on Mac), and most people don't run Linux. Plus the command line scares most people.
