Megan Fox has a toe-thumb.
And I don't know that I would call those people ignorant, just d-bags.

Re: Usage of wine in sacrament
Besides, wine doesn't taste THAT bad. I mean, supposedly beer is worse. Maybe. They're both acquired tastes... Many people like the taste. I've only had one bottle of beer in my life, but I found it to be very, very good. It's not like the first drink is terrible and you have to build up an immunit...

Re: Serving Alcohol While a BYU Student
Maybe so, I really can't speak to the requirements that are involved with something like a Chili's bartender, but don't those people also have to have a bartender's license? Maybe I oughta look this stuff up.

Re: Breastfeeding During Class
I often wish there was some sort of church ward that offers the environment of church without the kids involved. I suppose that sounds awfully Catholic of me, but being in the single's ward and not having crying babies during the sacrament is nice. If only they would allow childless married couples...

Che Guevara Really? The others, I grant you, seem to always play the villain. But Che in particular seems to have quite a bit of sympathy in America these days. At least from the people I am exposed to. Maybe it's just that I hang around too many RMs who served in Latin America (...except I don't t...

Re: Books in a Family Library
I include it as an analysis of human nature, and I think it tends to drive much of current economic thought (at least in this country). It isn't about how strong or persuasive the argument is (in this case), it is about how ubiquitous it is. Well re-reading your list I can kind of see the point you...

Re: Serving Alcohol While a BYU Student
I don't think any good standing LDS members should be a bartender by virtue of the fact (if I recall correctly) the person has to know what it tastes like in order to serve it. You can't be a chef without tasting your food, a tone deaf musician, and likewise cannot be a bartender without knowing wha...

Re: Books in a Family Library
Let's see, what should a good Mormon family have in their family library? A good cookbook or three A few works of Soren Kierkegaarde, particularly Fear and Trembling The Republic Animal Farm Atlas Shrugged A few works of Franz Kafka The standard works The Qur'an To Kill a Mockingbird Motorcycle Dia...

Re: Trying to invite someone to Institute
I think the best thing to do about these kinds of situations is not invite them to these functions at all. What reason are they going to have if they think you're just a project? Befriend them first. Get to know them, take 'em to get ice cream or whatever. Once you've established yourself as a frien...

Re: Breastfeeding During Class
I don't really have a problem with the breastfeeding, but I absolutely do have a problem with bringing children to class overall. I often wish there was some sort of church ward that offers the environment of church without the kids involved. I suppose that sounds awfully Catholic of me, but being i...

Re: Romantic chivalry
Just out of curiosity, how do we feel about pregnant ladies, FauxRaiden? Are we okay with giving them special treatment (I'm mostly thinking the offering of seats here)? I do happen to be pregnant, but I'm not offended if someone doesn't offer me a seat, by the way. Well in the case of pregnancy I ...

Re: What you wish you had known/done/brought as a freshman
I would have spent more time playing DOTA/Halo and sitting out on DT field with girls watching movies. Nothing beats running to hide in the bushes while HCO thugs clear out the field and then going back to finish up the film.. I really have no idea how I survived on 4 hours of sleep a night but it ...

Re: Usage of wine in sacrament
I for one would refuse the sacrament just because it tasted like recycled urine twice vomited with a touch of baking soda. Really? I mean really? Was that really necessary? I know you're joking, but seriously. This is the sacrament we're talking about. I suppose I just feel that strongly about the ...

I'm not saying that some feminists don't take it too far. They want everything and aren't willing to give anything back. They want everything a man gets AND everything entitled to just women as well. I disagree with this. I think it's foolish that some extremist feminists basically want to become m...

Re: Usage of wine in sacrament
I don't know what the complaint is. Wine is absolutely disgusting. Most alcoholic drinks are just terrible and bitter tasting, but wine seems to take it a bit further than most.
I for one would refuse the sacrament just because it tasted like recycled urine twice vomited with a touch of baking soda.

Re: Romantic chivalry
In any case, there seems to be a double standard when it comes to equality these days. Not to offend anyone by the way. Was it better back in the day when guys were expected to stand when a woman entered a room, never swear in front of a lady, and always help them in and out of the carriage? I'm cu...

I think you and I can agree on this one Marduk. It's not that the act is terribly inconvenient to do, and I'm sure it is the nice thing to a lot of people. However, I just hate that it's somehow turned into an expectation that men should do this. It seems to me that when it's expected, it cheapens t...

Had mine at 15 with some girl I had been 'dating' for a month or so. It wasn't bad by any means, but forgettable. She ended up cheating on me at some point a couple of weeks later. So that relationship which is down the drain and she seemed to go way off the deep end after me. Going on all crazy, cl...

I was actually the one that posted the relativity question. I was bored in between classes here at the BYU and was reading up on the theories relating to light travel (does that make me a geek?). Anyway it was messing with my head big time trying to understand the relation between time and decay whi...
