Yay for learning new skillz. I'll never be an awesome artist, but I thoroughly enjoyed the hour or so I spent today drawing my puppy with the drawing kit Marx gave me for my birthday a few weeks ago.

I've been away for a few days, and it was awesome that people were so entertained by eating habits! You guys are super entertaining! The reason why I went into so much detail is because I don't really have any hard-fast rules of what I do and don't like. And it's something I'm really particular about.
Re: Answers I liked
Yep, I really liked that question and the answers, especially Stego Lily's. It put into words thoughts that have been tumbling around in my head with respect to the "settling for good enough" thread.Emiliana wrote:https://theboard.byu.edu/questions/73049/

Don't be afraid to try new things, even things you know you will never be the best at!Marduk wrote:One of the greatest successes a parent can achieve with a child is to reduce that fear, allowing the child to not be afraid to try new things/look stupid.
The Boy Scout merit badge system (when done correctly) helps teach this. Here are the basic steps to earning a badge:
1. Identify something that interests you.
2. Find out about it by reading and/or contacting an expert.
3. Try it out.

I enjoyed that whole answer! Thank you for reminding me that despite my mother's baby fever (and, admittedly, I also have some of my own) waiting to have a baby can be a really good idea.Katya wrote:http://theboard.byu.edu/questions/72862/

Not that I'm planning to have a baby any time really soon since I'm not married and all, but still good to keep in mind for when I am.
The Epistler was quite honestly knocked on her ethereal behind by the sheer logic of this.

I thought Tally M.'s explanation of baptismal covenants was very good and complete. http://theboard.byu.edu/questions/72906/

This was a really interesting answer about the physical requirements for missionaries. (But I was shocked! to see that the average height and weight stats for women in one of the links)

I was sadly near that weight once, but my waist was no more than 30 or 31 inches. What gives?thatonemom wrote:(But I was shocked! to see that the average height and weight stats for women in one of the links)

Is there a trend forming where many readers become active here before applying for writership?

If it is a trend, it has been going for a long time. The first I recall was Gimgimno.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that there's anything wrong/bad with any body type. I was just surprised by how off my own perception of what "normal" or "average" is. I was... not even close. I was off for men, too, but that may be due in large part to ignorance. I know how tall my husband is but couldn't care less what he weighs. So, no real basis for judgement there.Portia wrote:I was sadly near that weight once, but my waist was no more than 30 or 31 inches. no, I'm surprised that is the "average," too, as I'd say in the 120s or 130s would be in the healthy range for a 5'4" woman. What shocks me was the waist measurement of 37". Basically, I don't believe it. If you're that height and 166, you probably wear a size 12 or so, and I KNOW 37" is not the standard waist size. I know I have an hourglass figure, but still...thatonemom wrote:Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that there's anything wrong/bad with any body type. Re: Answers I liked
I have an hourglass figure and those stats are almost exactly what mine were about a year ago. They are probably measuring around the belly button and not at the natural waist. But I'm not surprised that those are the averages because of the huge percentage of Americans who are obese. Let me just say, losing weight has given me a whole new perspective on what healthy really looks like.
Re: Answers I liked
Well, THAT makes a difference! My hips are about 37", which would put the hips themselves at a size 4 although overall I'm about an 8. So yeah, hourglass figures be drastically small natural-waisted.The Happy Medium wrote:They are probably measuring around the belly button and not at the natural waist.

Now I have to find a new make-out spot because everyone on the board knows my old one. Curses!

I definitely get ravenously hungry (not to mention b****y!) before my period, but both my appetite and my jerkiness wane once it actually starts.

I like how LJ got Editor's Choice for this one. I was also pretty excited to see a question that I asked was the longest EC. I mean sure, Zed wrote it, but I asked it.

I also enjoyed reading the article "Is Beauty Like Art or the NBA?" as a man who thankfully doesn't have image issues.
