Re: La La Land and Sacrifice
at the needless cost of a good relationship Their relationship was not good. They didn't understand each other and Gosling didn't even try particularly, he was too caught up in his own thing. It seems to me that one message could be that some of the sacrifices we make in this life are actually ones...

Shrinky dink, I have an unfounded suspicion that more retired writers are inactive/no longer Mormon but don't participate in alumni week. It feels like a pretty specific time period shows up.

Re: We need to pressure young LDS women more about marriage.
hahaha, I remember when that video came out. Good stuff. :) I just recently re-listened to "The Mormon Rap" which is also hilarious. As for the question itself, I would have responded in kind with silliness. Because it's a silly question. And that guy just hasn't been in any women's meetin...

Re: Drink without drinking
Grade-school caricatures of peer pressure don't exist in real life. I'll just say they do exist, but they are not the kind of people you really want to be hanging out with anyway. If your coworkers do that, they aren't kind people, and then what's the point of hanging out with them outside work? Al...

Talked to a job recruiter for the first time in my life today! He told me that women in data science are pretty desirable and I should be getting paid more. He probably says that to everyone (duh, so you'll switch jobs), but it was very flattering and weird.

Re: picking your roommate's major
Oh, I felt a lot of pressure about my major. It felt like a Very Big Decision that would determine my Future. Which is true in some ways, but also not true in other ways. I agree with the writers who suggested talking it out with a professor or advisor in the major the person is a little interested ...

Look, yeah the example is traditionalist, but there isn't one foo bar or biz so I'm calling it a win. I hate that the cooking example is seen as feminine (and of course it is!), because it is a great example of a program. So is knitting, another one we'd all roll our eyes at. Eta: now my husband and...

Yes you should absolutely ask! just likeyou said here, how's the decision making process going? And also ask when they will have an answer for you. In my opinion, waiting on them only hurts you, they don't care about your time line and could sit for a while just not realizing you are waiting.

My coworker suggests that instead of "Mormonsplain" the verb be "Mormsplain" which is really fun to say.

I know some of my husband's passwords and he knows some of mine. It's just for convenience, nothing quite so dramatic as destroying our individual selves.

I have some code that works perfectly on my work computer, which is a mac. I decided I should really stop exclusively using my work computer for personal projects, so I set up an environment on my windows computer. Now I'm trying to run the program and keep getting all kinds of weird unicode/formatt...

I'm reading "The Pun Also Rises" and I think a LOT of you all would enjoy it.
I also just bought "The Disappearing Spoon" because the ebook is on sale on Barnes & Noble today and I think quite a few people around here have recommended it before.

Mmm gumbo. I ended up doing fried okra which was good and easy, but if they send okra again I'll try gumbo.

Just got a box of vegetables from a local csa (community supported agriculture). Any of you chefs have recommendations for sweet potato greens or okra that don't involve bacon? My first dish is risotto with sweet potato greens. Crossing my fingers. I know how to cook everything else (zucchini, cucum...
