I'm sorry if this has already been discussed, but...

Okay, so I just went to Fred's website, and dang, those are some AMAZING pictures.

Even if they are photoshopped, you've still got a good eye for that sort of thing.

My favorite would probably have to be the picture of the saltines. I especially like the crumbs.

I agree.

I like the "Shaded Path" picture. BYU should pay him the big bucks and use it in their glossy pamphlets!

Freddie boy, do you hire yourself out? I bet you could make some money doing special events and the like.

Thanks! I'm glad you two like them! Most of them have had very little editing done to them, usually only a contrast adjustment and maybe a crop. The "Modified" album is called that since those are my best images, and so are the ones I was willing to spend the extra time to make those adjustments. The black and white photos probably have the most extensive photoshop work done on them out of the photos there.

I have been paid for my photography once (for some wedding announcements), but other than that, no. Not that I am against being paid, I love it after all and money comes in handy, but I don't go looking for jobs. I would accept most any request though, as long as the pay was alright. :D

(Oh, and Bob. I have an update written, I am just having some trouble getting it up. It's not my fault.)

For photo editing. I was thinking about getting Apeture 2, but I didn't know how it compared to classic Adobe Photoshop.

I use iPhoto for storage and cataloging, and then use Photoshop CS3 for editing.

Aperture is really much more like a professional version of iPhoto that is built for handling RAW images than it is a replacement for Photoshop. If you shoot in RAW though, you are going to want either Aperture or Lightroom, and depending on what kind of edits you want to be able to do, you might want Photoshop in addition to one of those.

If you have a Canon point and shoot you might check out CHDK ( http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page )

It will allow you to shoot in RAW with most of the non-SLR Canon cameras and run scripts etc.

It also allows a much wider range of options and displaying histograms and areas of overexposure live on the screen.

Since it runs on top of your current firmware, there are no permanent changes to your camera and Canon has said that they will still honor warranty.

I have a Powershot A640 and it works great with it.
Everything below the line of coherence may be safely ignored.

Naw, I use a Panasonic DMC-FZ20, though I have been very tempted to buy a Canon Rebel XT lately. $400 for a body and kit lens! But alas, I don't have the money at the moment.

At least you're trying, mate. I approve. : D
The Epistler was quite honestly knocked on her ethereal behind by the sheer logic of this.

I concur, your site has some awesome shots on it! I am suprised you don't get paid for your work more often. Let me know if you ever take pictures of Tetons and I could be your second customer. My mother is obsessed with those mountians and seriously drooled over some guy's $700 photograph of a sunset at Jenny Lake a month ago. Man, I understand charging for your art, but that was a bit much . . .

All right. I fixed it for the time being. But, if you have a bookmark, it will take you to the old site instead of the new site, so you will have to click on the link under my messages and make a new bookmark. (The site is hosted somewhere new.)

The good news is that you can now leave comments! Huttah!

I like how Fred can take pictures of things like screws and make them look pretty.

You know, I'm glad you said that. I actually won an award for that photo. That was a very happy day. :D

And Giovanni, that made me very happy to see you say that.
