#53574 Captured by Indians

Post by vorpal blade »

I suspect there are several movies that more or less fit the description of the question asked. I'm not at all sure that the movie I thought of is the "right" one, but the John Wayne movie "The Searchers" came to mind for me.

In "The Searchers" a young girl is captured by the Comanches, I believe. Ethan Edwards, played by John Wayne, goes in search of the girl, who is his niece. The search takes many years before he finally finds her. By the time Ethan finds her she is a young woman, and she resists being rescued. She had become a part of the tribe, and I think she had been taken as a wife by one of the braves.

Just a suggestion.

Thanks. I actually smacked myself for not thinking of The Searchers. So kudos to you, too.

Last night I watched a Bollywood movie called "Pingar." The background of the movie is the violence and turmoil of the partition of India and Pakistan in 1947-1948. What I thought was an interesting twist to this story line, in regard to this question, was that a man kidnaps an Indian girl. By the time she is rescued she has sort of fall in love with her abductor (a Pakistani) and decides to stay with him as his wife.
