I agree with KirKe in his answer.

I also agree with habiba in her comment #56530, except I think the F-35 might be necessary.

Yesterday, March 17, 2010 the F-35 demonstrated for the first time that it can hover. Hopefully in a few days it will demonstrate its first vertical landing. http://www.dodbuzz.com/2010/03/17/jsf-n ... nd-hovers/
