Actually, I have seen Alladin performed on stage. If you go to the California Adventure side of Disneyland, they run a production of it a few times a day. It was AWESOME. I think that Iago was a puppet (I honestly can't remember), but the monkey was deleted. Instead, there was just magic carpet, who was a person with the four corners of the rug on their ankles and wrists, if that makes sense. The fun part was that the parade introducing Prince Ali comes through the audience, and the magic carpet ride flys overhead and up to the ceiling as well.
So, yes, excellent choice Gimgimno. Go see it if you can! Tron will have to wait until the sequel on the movie screen though. Sorry.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Iago was a puppet too. They did a very good job with Aladdin--except for the fact that when I went, the sound went out during "Friend Like Me" and we had to wait forever for them to fix it. And we didn't even get to finish watching the number

I'm aware I'm very late to this, but since it was mentioned, I just wanted to say that Tarzan (the musical) was terrible. I went to see it in New York with my show choir, and many of us actually fell asleep (that tells you something right there), and the rest of us couldn't help but bash it the entire time.
Okay, the music that was already in the movie was fantastic. But they added in a few other filler songs (e.g. so that Jane could have a solo, in which she basically just lists off a bunch of Latin species names) that were quite uninspired. It had a few cool visual effects, but they, like the additional songs, had no real purpose in the play. The best of the choreography was monkeys jumping around. As for the acting/singing, I admit that varies with wherever the show is being put on, but the performances we saw were average at best, ranging to awful, and this is New York, people! Most offensive of all, in my not-so-humble opinion, is that with all that filler, the musical ended up being longer (by almost an hour, if memory serves) than the movie–– which works if, you know, it's actually entertaining and the plot flows.
I'm all for musicals, but seriously, don't waste your time on this one. See The Lion King instead. I saw that one in London; it is truly, mind-blowingly amazing.
