Gio, I know you don't care about offending people anymore now that you're almost on a mission, but I do think that was uncalled for. Bob being "fantastic" has no bearing on what you see Marduk being.
Seems to me that an almost-missionary would be practicing his love of all men rather than sharpening his tongue.
It's no question that you were joking. I realize that it's mostly a case of mistaken reading -- your comment would make a lot more sense if Marduk had said the bit about how "fantastic" he is, but at the moment it looks like you made an unprovoked attack on someone that's minding his own business. And I don't think random slurs are something we need promote.
So I guess read more carefully. As tempting as it is to tell everyone that they have to moderate their humor before I moderate it for them, anyone can make insult jokes to their heart's content (as long as they're not random, unprovoked attacks). After all, feelings don't get hurt on the internet.
And, to bring the topic back around, my other favorite current writer is Laser Jock.
Other favorite past writers include Uffish Thought, Tao, Dragon Lady, Polly Esther. I can't think of those other ones that are at the tip of my memory. Weird.
So, this is probably a bit off topic, but I was thinking about having favorite readers, and other than this board's posts, it would seem rather difficult to me to percieve enough of a difference in readers based on questions to actually formulate an opinion based on this. I was reminded of the question about recognizing readers based on questions, so I went back to read my questions to see if there were recognizable patterns.
Conclusion? My questions tend to sound like they were pulled straight from the A.C.T., or maybe were college entrance essay questions. I don't know what to make of that.
I may have been picked because I like to ask about the babies. Just going from what I've submitted to the Board, that seems the most likely reason. In fact, that would probably be the reason even taking into account this forum. I don't think I'm any cooler on this forum.
As far as recognizable patterns, it's parenthetical asides that would give it away as me ... if the three questions I've asked not as C is for used parentheses (well, two of them do, but only one of them is an aside that could be traced to my writing style). Maybe some anonymous questions just sound more like certain readers whether or not they actually are. (Not that I think Gimno or anyone else would be recognizing my writing style specifically, because I'm not that self-centered ok, I'm using myself as an example of how you probably can't tell most readers if they don't use their 'nym.)
Speaking of, did one of those questions today sound a lot like our friend Maddie, trying to be anonymous?
The making out question sounded like something Maddie would write, but there were no emoticons / smiley faces. I suppose this could mean that it wasn't her, or she was trying to be sneaky. I guess there's no real way to tell.

That's what I thought. The main reason I thought that was instead of signing a name she (whoever she is) said "no way jose...you guys would jackslap me" as if they already know who she is and would jackslap her if they knew it was her. But, like you said, no real way to tell.
Yeah, "jackslap" isn't a term that I hear very often. I'm just going to assume that it was Maddie asking the question. So to her I say: Maddie, don't make out with boys. They have cooties. Problem solved.
