There was a television show that I remembered watching either sometime in the late 1980s or early 1990s. It was about an alien stranded on earth. For a companion, he had a hovering eyeball. I couldn't remember the name. Every few months I'd try searching the internet for clues as to its identity. I always came up empty-handed. I hesitated to ask the board about it since this kind of question usually stumps them. A few weeks ago I gave it another go and...

...I found it! It's called Hard Time on Planet Earth. It ran on CBS for just one television season in 1989. Strangely enough (perhaps), I finally found it on tvtropes.org (in the trope "Alien Among Us").
