Random Ramblings and the Deathly Hallows
Re: Random Ramblings and the Deathly Hallows
Dang it USA! Just like a woman. Make me love you, and then break my heart. I'm sorry, it's over between us.

Re: Random Ramblings and the Deathly Hallows
Ahhhh that hurt so bad today. I was watching it with my brothers and we were going nuts. I guess that's the problem with getting so emotionally invested in sports. Sigh.
Buuuut, I am VERY excited to watch the England-Germany game tomorrow. Thank goodness for afternoon church. I am busting out my Wayne Rooney jersey.

Argentina Schmargentina!
Re: Random Ramblings and the Deathly Hallows
Well...
My friends all vote Germany. Since I don't really care ...
Nationalmannschaft!! Deutschland!
Just to keep things interesting.
Edit: and by "vote" I mean they have been die-hard fans for about 4 years. This ain't some random "Ooh, they're still in, we'll root for them." Goes a tad deeper.
It is in their honor that I fly the red, black, and yellow.

Re: Random Ramblings and the Deathly Hallows
I finally painted my room. I bought the paint ages ago, but I finally had motivation this afternoon. Yay!
Re: Random Ramblings and the Deathly Hallows
Germany? Nah, I still have affection for them, but not as much. Give me the '98 team, with Bierhoff and Klinnsman, now THAT'S a team.

Poor ahem., trying to break up the monotony of a conversation in the Random thread, and getting ignored. ; )
The Epistler was quite honestly knocked on her ethereal behind by the sheer logic of this.
Re: Random Ramblings and the Deathly Hallows
I dunno. I think this German team is doing okay.
(I'm ignoring you too bob.)

Heh. I just don't follow soccer. But I guess if I HAVE to get involved in this madness... I support the Netherlands? Do they have a team? Is that a legitimate vote/guess?

Soccer was only interesting the year I was paid to watch it.

I am so baffled by people who don't follow sports at all. I don't even consider myself a huge sports fan, but it still happens all the time that I mention something about a big game (like how well a certain player did, or whatever) to someone, and they have nooo idea what I'm talking about. Weird.

Re: Random Ramblings and the Deathly Hallows
i know quite a bit about the main college sports, but I don't go out of my way to watch them. I didn't watch a football game until the first BYU game of the 2009 season.

Re: Random Ramblings and the Deathly Hallows
I KNOW! And I'm a girl! But I grew up in Texas, so football is like my lifeblood. Especially a good college rivalry game...OOH, the possibilities. Outside of football, I mostly try to keep up with the major headlines in sports. And I've been really good lately! I've been keeping tabs on the World Cup, Wimbledon, the NBA finals, and the musical chairs of college conferences. Crazy things going on in the sports world.Darth Fedora wrote:I am so baffled by people who don't follow sports at all. But in general, I don't really care about specific players unless they were particularly noteworthy. So I still check on John Beck from time to time. I might follow Max Hall in his professional pursuits, but I might not. Also, if I ever have any personal association with a player, I'll probably follow them forever. Like I had a class with Brenden Gaskins. And a few years ago, Ben Criddle was my FHE dad. Those guys are friggin cool! Too bad they didn't go pro...

Hey, I'm a humanities people too, but I still enjoy playing and watching sports. I get annoyed by a lot of the money and politics in it, but I genuinely enjoy the rare occasion that that all takes a back seat and the true spirit of competition is displayed.krebscout wrote:That would be me and Sauron.
