Grossest Fruit

I had durian candy once. It was really brave of me.

My mom is watching one of those weird food channel competition shows RIGHT NOW where these two guys had to make durian shakes and drink them.

I have liked every fruit I've ever tried, with one exception.

I will not, for any reason, eat or drink anything made with tamarind. That was one thing that was never meant to be eaten.

I won't eat something that has a predominate tamarind flavor, but you have to hand it to Pad Thai. That dish makes for mighty fine eating considering the amounts of fish sauce and tamarind pulp that go into it.

Thai curry doesn't taste nearly as good if you don't include tamarind. That being said, tamarind by itself truly is disgusting.

I'm sure some people will disagree with me--quite a few of the elders on my mission thought I was crazy for not liking it--but I hate cajú (cashew fruit? I have no idea what it's called in English--it's the fruit that you get cashew nuts from, if that helps). It was really popular where I served, and I always dreaded having cajú juice with lunch. Nasty stuff. Graviola was pretty gross, too.

I will submit that the grossest fruit is fruit that is older than I am.

Random hates all fruit but apples. She doesn't like the texture of any of them.
The Epistler was quite honestly knocked on her ethereal behind by the sheer logic of this.

Amen, I hate bananas. I like the flavor, but not the fruit itself because of the texture.

I am the complete opposite. I will gladly eat a banana, but I can't stand them in things like smoothies or banana cream pie. yech.

I'm like Marduk, I like all the fruits I've tried. There was a fruit I tried in the United States that tasted like turpentine, but in Ecuador it was good tasting.

Every persimmon I've ever eaten has given me cotton mouth. It's a sensation that is not at all pleasant. I'm told I just don't pick ripe ones. When I wait until it's extremely mushy, then it just has a terribly unpleasant texture. So, I vote persimmon.

RIpe persimmons are good. Ripe Bradford pears will still convey the cotton mouth feeling. They are the fruit from the stinky pear trees that pervade campus in the spring and are tiny and aren't commercially available, so maybe they don't count.

Bananas are the most disappointing fruit. At first they are tasty and pleasant! But then halfway through, every banana spontaneously and inevitably turns disgusting, and I find myself left staring at the freaky little strings clinging to the sides of the banana, and with a mouthful of horrible banana mush that I really don't want to swallow.
If I manage to choke down the rest of it, then each bite becomes progressively worse, until when you take the last bite out of the peel and you see that awful little brown spike that was spiking into your banana. Do you guys know what I'm talking about with the little brown spike thing? I hate that thing so much. IT'S GROSS.

You're peeling your bananas from the wrong end, obviously. When you're done, does the peel look like something you'd drop in front of Donkey Kong's kart? If not, in the immortal words of the internet: ur doin it wrong.

'Tis true. Strange as it may seem; some people insist on peeling their bananas backwards.

Though it'd be an interesting study against subliminal influences. How often are we shown images of banana peels with the stem on some random end, as opposed to the middle?

Could there be a correlation between banana preference and peeling technique? Perhaps user error could be a causal vector in banana dislike? is the dysfunctional peeling endemic to the United States, or has it gone pandemic? I can't find these crucial statistics anywhere.

Clearly the CDC has been slacking.
