Screw that octopus! Germany SHOULD have won. Ugh.
Hup, Holland, Hup!

Did you know that some Argentine newspapers (I think El Día was among them) have called for the kidnapping (octopusnapping?) and death of Paul the Octopus. Some people have even suggested octopus recipes (like in an article giving "Three Delicious and Simple Ways to Cook Paul the Octopus").
I served my mission in Argentina. I can imagine some of the people I knew calling for the death of Paul the Octopus.

Octupi are friends, not food!
I'll be honest, for the final, I had only a mild preference for the Netherlands to win, and that's because I like Dirk Kuyt. Oh well. I also thought the defense and goal-keeping were too tight for it to be a really exciting game. I felt like both sides made some nice chances, but kept getting foiled by strong defending. So yeah. A quieter game plus me not really caring who won made the final pretty mellow compared to most other games I've watched.
