I was just wondering what fireworks look like from above! Which is better, above or below?
It was way cool to see them from above once, but I think below is better. There's something fun about looking up to see fireworks against a background of stars. Also, fireworks look teensy from a plane.

I'm sitting here in a super-fun long meeting and all of a sudden I remember that when I was in high school I used to mutter to myself all the time, "Save me, dear Aphrodite."

That began, I believe, after our mythology unit. Can't believe it's coming to mind now. Except that I'm looking for something to save me, I guess. As meetings go it's not horrible.

Funny story to make you blush...hope this isn't too inappropriate...

Since our wedding is coming up relatively soon, me and my fiance were picking up some "couples products" at the store today. He glanced over at something on the shelf, and he was like "Aerosol gel? What's so special about aerosol gel?" I went over to see what he was looking at, and I saw the box labeled "Arousal Gel". I was like, "Uhhh, that doesn't say aerosol."

But he didn't know the difference in the spelling! I got a kick out of that...such an innocent mistake. We were giggling about it the whole way home.

I saw the Macy's fireworks overt the Hudson this year. They were pretty amazing and what made it even better was that the soundtrack was the Tabernacle Choir. It was mighty incredible, and we had great seats.

thebigcheese, I'm just glad you found the problem before he tried to use it. You could have had a very arousing house.

So I had an urge to cook Mexican food (real Mexican food) last night, so I went and bought some supplies and told a few people to come over. After making the enchilada sauce, I thought "this might be too spicy for the white people." So I used a few tricks to tame it down; I added a bit of sugar, a little more salt, watered it down with tomato sauce, etc.

First, no one recognized them as enchiladas (I guess people are used to torilla casseroles slathered in cheddar, and calling those enchiladas) and second, everyone seemed to enjoy them, but had one complaint of "they're too spicy!"

The cheesecake was good, though. : )

I keep getting creamed by the computer at scopa. Most recently, I lost 17 to 21 (11 points wins the game). It just kept getting more disappointing as we kept tying up.

Tonight, I had a potential landlord/roommate tell me she might not want to rent to me because she's worried about me not finding the social atmosphere I might be looking for. I understood what I was getting into when I told her I wanted to live there. Apparently she needs to think about it some more. Gah! I hate the whole moving situation.

Today, I was awakened by my former roommate and her current roommates making loud noises and fighting with each other, which I had to break up. The reason why I was upstairs hearing this instead of safe in my own room is because I still need to do laundry from when my current roommates (the furry ones) relieved themselves on my bed at the same time just after I had cleaned it and put new bedclothes on.

@Indefinite Integral: That's messed up. Your landlord should only want the money, and not be so concerned about what you do or don't do :D

Today I had a phone interview for a job where I would be paid to blog about health insurance. I am getting much too excited about something that is not at all a sure thing.

I agree, but apparently she's looking out for my well-being or something. She told me she'd pray about it. Oh, the joys of Utah living.

Today I found out that purple Necco wafers are supposed to be clove flavored. I always wondered about that.

Yum. Clove-flavored Candy. Which Color is supposed to be the nutmeg flavor? I ask nutmeg because it's also a spice used in sweet things, like Cinnamon. Otherwise I would've asked about the pepper flavor, and I would've been directed to Bertie Botts...who would have nutmeg-flavored beans already!

At least you don't need to look for words that end with a specifiC letter--diCtionaries aren't set up for making that easy.

If integral's landlord would also be her roommate, which is what it sounds like, it makes more sense to me in general for her to pray about it, although I don't know the context at all. My house is actively looking for a new roommate to take someone's spot, and we are very much including prayer in our search for finding someone who will be a good fit and benefit from living with us, as well as doing okay with the somewhat unique situation we have right now.

Also, my home teacher just came and mowed the lawn and it smells like fresh-cut grass right now. Mmmm!

Yeah, that's the situation. I understand it, but it's somewhat frustrating to think you have a place to live and then find out 2 days later that you might not.

One of my Facebook friends quoted something by Hobbes today. My first reaction was that it was the Board Hobbes, then the tiger Hobbes, and then I realized that the quote was far too profound for either of them to say so I realized it was by the REAL Hobbes... now I'm kinda embarrassed to think it took me a second to realize it.

If the signature line of the Hobbes quote included a tilde, you were perfectly justified in your confusion.

No need to be embarrassed at all. I daresay that our Hobbes could rival the old one on most days for depth. The cartoon Hobbes? It'd take a good day, but he's had them.
