Hymn #19

Re: Hymn #19
What I've never understood is why "I'm a Child of God" has the fourth verse in the Children's Songbook and not in the hymnal. I remember searching for it in vain when I was younger because I knew it existed, but didn't realize it wasn't in both until years later.

I actually read about this recently, though I can't remember where. Basically, Sister Randall wrote the fourth verse years later, but the Brethren chose not to include it because it wasn't correlation approved yet at press time. Later it was included in the childrens' book after its approval.

Katya- I was aware of the old way that Praise to the Man was written, and I learned about it while living in Nauvoo. All kinds of random and interesting church history tidbits can be picked up there . . .

Um, I pretty much like all the hymns. I might get annoyed if the person choosing the music insists on singing hymns from the sealed portion of the hymn book EVERY WEEK But once I get to know the song, I typically like it.

I agree. Best song EVAR! I loved it so much that Yellow made me a CD of hymns in minor for Christmas 2 years ago. I'm really tempted to ask the Board to come up with lyrics for it. Unless one of y'all want to make up lyrics for me?Yellow wrote:It's much, much more interesting when played in minor. I call it "In Our Mournful Deseret". Still need to come up with words, though.wired wrote:I think we can all objectively conclude that In Our Lovely Deseret is the worst hymn of all time.

Hm. I might be interested in lyrics for a song or two, depending on the hymn. Which ones do you have?
