Is Facebook Genocide Ethical?

Post by Craig Jessop »

Is going through your friends list and deleting some (or lots, as the case may be) ethical? I just did it. Should I feel bad?

Okay, I voted no but I meant yes. Somehow I read this quickly and thought "is that a problem? No." I meant, yes, go for it, delete away. I believe in only having friends who are actually my friends, not aquaintences.

Hey, you didn't get rid of my sister yet! Yeah, she's harmless.

I'm pretty liberal with people I'll let be my friends. If I recognize the name and where I know them from (which, my memory's pretty good) I'll let them be my friend. But they may not show up on my news feed unless I actually like them and care what they have to say.

If she is who I think she is (did she change her last name upon marriage?), then I didn't get rid of her because I find her status updates wildly amusing. Most other married women from my freshman year were among my first victims.

I just wanted you to know that this question is a difficult one, and I don't have a good answer for you.

Then I know who you're talking about. Problem solved. Which leads to another interesting question... how did you know I'm friends with your sister on Facebook? Have you been a-stalking?

I became friends with Gio on Facebook. I figured out who his brother was. Clicked on the profile. There she was. I asked her. She let me know of the connection.

Not super interesting...
