Miller Apartments

Post by Unit of Energy »

To the future Miller resident. I'm looking forward to having you. The hole under the sink of 15 is still there, although it no longer looks into 16. But between 3 and 4 there is a hole that you can push a broom handle through. And now that any remaining anonymity I had is now gone, I will tell you that Miller is still ghetto, but we still have the most awesome ward ever. I don't know if you are male or female, but the guys in the ward are some of the best men I have ever had the chance to know. The girls are awesome too, and I felt more welcome in my first three weeks in Miller than I did in the two years I live in my previous ward.

So advice for living in Miller:
Apartment 4 is crazy, but we love them anyway.
Third floor doesn't associate with first and second much, but I would be more than willing to facilitate a change in that status quo.
Vacuums have to be checked out from the office, which is highly annoying. However I recently obtained my own vacuum, which you are more that welcome to borrow.

I met Uffish at Miller Apartments. Prettttty sure krebscout used to live there too. And other Board writers that I don't remember right now. I went to Salsa Night once or twice (do they still have that?). Anyway. I'd just like to confirm that Miller is ghetto but awesome.

I never lived in Miller apartments, but my mom and two of my friends all lived in apartment 13 at different times in the same bedroom. Crazy!

Salsa night still happens every Thursday, although I'm not sure if that will continue. I'm planning on starting a treat night myself.

A few more notes.
2 smells weird
1 has a trash can that is smells like the Gateway to Hell
9 doesn't have a working oven
10 has mismatched paint in the living room, although the current residents have mostly masked this.
11 still has pictures of residents that lived there before I moved into the ward
4, 13, and 14 only have one shower that gets hot
15 has sporadic hot water in the kitchen sink
16 has no screen on the kitchen window
8 has tile instead of linoleum

I had cousins that lived in 9 and 20 before I moved in.

I will neither confirm nor deny that there are ... a lot of connections between Miller and the Board.

"Ghetto but awesome" pretty much sums up the ethos of Provo. I was back this last weekend. Missed it a lot . . . the diners, the cupcake stores, absolutely nothing to do but hang out in your apartment or gaze in awe at the mountains . . . appreciate it while you can. The best part of BYU, hands down, is the atmosphere and the people. It blows my mind that people can be happy being crammed into 900 square feet with 5 other people of their same gender and make $8 an hour, but dangit, people ARE! and it's awesome
