introduce yourselves
introduce yourselves
I started reading the Board 4+ years ago, and retired almost 2 years ago. (!) On a recent post, Katya was the only familiar face. Who are you, where do you live, do you have a connection to someone you'd like to share . . . enlighten me.

Re: introduce yourselves
You will remember me. Not that we have met in person, or that we necessarily know the same people.
Re: introduce yourselves
I will point out, briefly, that we have an Introduce Yourselves thread, but I never mind the opportunity to talk about myself!
I'm C is for. Often nicknamed C4 which is a reference that I understand but only vaguely. I ... am an admin (in fact one might say I replaced you but that's hard to prove) and I like the power. I have a tendency to make myself unpopular but that's okay because everyone really truly loves me in their heart of hearts. They can't help it.
I moved back home after graduating last August (yikes it's been a whole year); I'm one of those deadbeats that doesn't even have a job. So I live at my home in Cache Valley, a beautiful place.
Um, no connections spring to mind. I know who you are, in a "Yes that's Portia she wrote in 2008 and is best known for her dramatic spy love stories" way. And I know who many of your colleagues are in the same manner. I don't even have any special connections to anyone on the Board board here...at least I'm not dating anyone like some others I might name.
Pretty much, I'm efficient yet boring. Excruciatingly boring.

Re: introduce yourselves
Well, I was at BYU from 2000-2007. I've been reading the board since it was an actual board in the WILK, but I didn't ask my first question until I moved to Nova Scotia. I don't think I know any board writers in person, but if you ever went to the Harry Potter planetarium show at BYU, that was me. Unless it was Dr. Lawler doing it after I left or that one time on Halloween that in Victoria on top of a scary mountain.
Re: introduce yourselves
You probably don't know who I am, but I certainly know who you are, and not by your writing either. (Wow, that sounds really creepy. Let me clarify. I hear many references to you on this board, as well as from individuals I've met and now hang out with from this board. Since I already sound creepy, let me also add that I have a small crush on you by reputation.)
I'm Marduk. I'm 35, and I'm an alcoholic. (Wait, no. That's for something else. Ignore that.) Ok, seriously though, I am still going to school at UVU (which I feel to be a superior institution to BYU. Having been accepted to BYU, I decided that it wasn't for me. If you ever want a long rant, ask me about why I feel this way.) I am LDS, and stalwart at that, but I tend to have many political and other views that differ vastly from my LDS cohorts, at least in this valley/state. I'm one of the few mormons I know who hangs out with atheists on a regular basis (and intentionally at that!). I will be the first to tell you of my brilliance, and I believe that much of it is warranted, but I joke about it because I'm afraid I come off arrogant. From what I have seen of your political beliefs, I tend to agree with you on most things, though I'm less fervent about it. My personal philosophy is that lack of discussion and disagreement on issues leads to stagnancy, and our ideas become weak and ineffectual. Hence I think that everyone should talk about important things much more often than they actually do.
Lastly, I WILL tell you (though perhaps this person would rather I not) that the thing that keeps getting brought up when you are mentioned is "oh, Portia! She's GORGEOUS."

Re: introduce yourselves
Hey Portia! I certainly remember you, and I hope you remember me. I hope you no longer want to give the admins swift kicks in the pants.
The Epistler was quite honestly knocked on her ethereal behind by the sheer logic of this.
Re: introduce yourselves
I've read the board for four years now, and I love it. It is weird to read the board with the lack of Portia-Katya-Uffish-Tangy-etc, but I still like it.

Yeah, the current writers are pretty terrible, if you ask me.
