What has Mormon art come to?
What has Mormon art come to? Please, tell me, what is your favorite part of this painting? I like the look of horror on the lady's face.

I like how the guy looks like he's trying to score the whole tray of bread while his wife isn't looking.

I couldn't decide whether I liked the infected nail marks more than the straight from Scream look, but ended up with the latter.

Yeah, it actually took me a good minute or so to figure out that it was even supposed to be Jesus. I was trying to figure out why she looked so horrified. At first I thought maybe it was her long lost hippie brother and it's like a prodigal son thing and she's surprised to see him back at church, but then I figured it out.

I don't see it as horror, but as surprise. Suddenly what has been taken as routine is anything but routine this day. I kind of like it.

Yes, the point it is trying to make is as subtle as lung cancer. This sort of sledgehammer approach has never appealed to me.

Does anything appeal to you Marduk? I dare you to give an example of something that the public would like that you also like.Marduk wrote:\This sort of sledgehammer approach has never appealed to me.

The Epistler was quite honestly knocked on her ethereal behind by the sheer logic of this.

I like how Santa is moping in the front row with jeans and no tie. "...Christmas was supposed to be MY special day!"

And remember, there are many people who are good even if they are not following "accepted" Christian religion.

Probably one of the most popular things that I enjoy is The Simpsons. I also enjoy the music work of Danny Elfman, I moderately enjoyed the Harry Potter series (although I didn't like the movies too much) and I'm a fan of just about every food that has been invented (as my belly can attest to).Craig Jessop wrote: Does anything appeal to you Marduk? Thanks for finding this Bob, I was looking for this to add it to our little collection of terrible Mormon art.bobtheenchantedone wrote:Here's my favorite: http://www.mcnaughtonart.com/artwork/vi ... ece_id=353

Judges who exercise their judicial power as provided for under the constitution, but in ways we disagree with = evil
Professors = evil, but schoolteachers = good
Anything produced by mass media = evil
Any news source we disagree with = evil
Cleon Skousen = scripture
JFK = founding father
There's so, so many more, but this piece represents in one instantiated case all that is wrong with the dangerous overdogmatizing of the political right.

Ha. I knew if I brought the painting up you'd come up with more that's wrong with it, Duck. I could only hit the basics.

Heh, had to be contrary and point out that judicial review was not provided for under the constitution, wasn't until Marbury v Madison that they granted themselves that power.Marduk wrote:Judges who exercise their judicial power as provided for under the constitution, but in ways we disagree with = evil

Re: What has Mormon art come to?
Yeah, I'm aware. I wasn't specifically referring to judicial review, although I suppose that's what most people take issue with.

Cognoscente and I saw that probably about a year ago in Provo Towne Center and I remember being flabbergasted then. It's even worse this time.
