60532 - Most awesome DI finds

Post by TheBlackSheep »

Foreman's right, he did get that cart at a Board white elephant party, and I took home the "autographed" 8x10 of Cecil. Man with a Mustache, if you're reading this, that was the BEST WHITE ELEPHANT GIFT EVER.

But Pseudoname forgot to mention what the best gay friends and I found in a Vegas DI once for $3. We found one of these: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/3699516.stm I didn't realize it was a mass produced item for almost a year and I thought it was handmade. We had all kinds of awkward good times with it.

Anyone else have awesome finds to share?

Oh, I love DI. I got a Fowler's usage dictionary there. And the classic pocket Latin dictionary (it is really cute!). And my 1930s typewriter. Mmmmm DI...

My freshman year we found a couch that we literally sank into. It was ugly, dingy, and basically the most comfortable thing we had ever seen. So we all chipped in and paid the $15 for it, got it to our dorms I have no idea how, and put it in the common room on our floor of DT. We got a sheet or something to cover it with, and everybody used it for studying the rest of the year because it was SO comfy.

Now that I think of it, I have no idea where it went after that year. I think someone took it with them. Hopefully we didn't just ditch it and go home like the idiot freshmen we were . . .

Mostly I remember the night we got it. We were all completely loopy from studying for finals, and someone suggested a break to DI. So we went there and acted like the absolute morons. Playing fake laser tag with anything we could find, having an ugly shoe contest, taking pictures of everything we did. Somehow buying a couch despite living in an 8x8 cell was the most sane thing we did while we were there.

Good times.

I remember that couch, 42! It was awesome! And I'm pretty sure someone did take it with them at the end of the year, although I have no idea who anyome.

I'm not much of a DI shopper, but my husband LOVES the place. We got two banana chairs there for $25. Were they completely hideous? You betcha!
