Ave Maria

Post by Imogen »

So, I may be singing Ave Maria at a wedding next year, and I have to questions I need help with:

1) What is your favorite version of Ave Maria?

2) Can someone help me find the Tomas Luis Victoria sheet music for this song that is split into two choirs (both SATB)? I sang this version in high school and have an audio file of it, but I need the sheet music for another Ave Maria related thing I'm doing.

I'm not super familiar with very many versions of that song, but I do really like Ellens Gesang's preformance found here.

The only other version I know is sung by Karen Carpenter. But despite my love for almost all things Carpenters, I do not much care for it.

oh, I like Bach's arrangement. It's pretty easy to play the accompaniment, but a beautiful arrangement. I think you could find the sheet music for it for free somewhere.

You can order it from Mapa Mundi Music for £2.85 per copy plus shipping. The item code is 96A (Tomás Luis de Victoria: Ave Maria (SATB+ SATB)).
