Encore - Two Colors
OKAY. Here I am, giving you a new topic to sing songs about.
In the interest of continuing to make each topic more odd than the last, I've decided that, to qualify, the song must mention at least two colors. As with mother/father, they don't have to be in the same part of the song; you just have to have at least 8 words for each. However, unlike mother/father, they have to both be in the same song. Any colors qualify, as do colors in other languages. The same color mentioned more than once does not count, even if in different contexts.
All right. Go ahead and get all of those rainbow songs out of your systems.
Edited to add: just thought of something else to clarify. Words that have more than one definition, including the definition of "a color," are allowed as long as it is clear that they are being used in the "color" sense.

And, once again, I'll do two entries per day.

Uhh… am I missing a color here?Craig Jessop wrote:I'm Dreaming of a white Christmas

(I assume punctuation doesn't have to be correct.)

Bah, who cares about punctuation, DL.
Also, not only is there only one color in Craig's post, he also only has six words.

I fear that there will be a hefty amount if borrowing from the Yellow thread. Are you okay with that, Bob?

Re: Encore - Two Colors
It's perfectly fine to use songs from past rounds, as long as they fit the criteria of this round.

"Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow. Though they be red like crimson they shall be like wool (they shall be like wool)..."
You can tell I just came from Institute choir practice. Even though we're not singing that song. It's a very easy leap, if you're me.

Re: Encore - Two Colors
What if the primary definition of the word is a color, but it's being used in a secondary sense? I.e., in the following case, the words "black" and "white" are arguably referring to race, not to color:robert l'enchanté(e) wrote:Words that have more than one definition, including the definition of "a color," are allowed as long as it is clear that they are being used in the "color" sense.
"It doesn't matter if you're black or white."

I say that items named for their color are allowed. So you are allowed to use blueberry, orange, black or white when used in a race sense, etc.
When I said that, I was thinking more of words that became colors second. For example, "mocha." First few definitions are drinks. Last definition is a color.
Also, thanks for giving me an awesome name.

When I saw that name, Katya, my first thought was Robin Hood (cartoon version) when Little John calls him "Rober."

Re: Encore - Two Colors
I suppose I'd better post a song before I forget (I'm having fun freaking out about Etsy right now).
"Out came a lady fair, she was dressed in green."
"She took him by the yellow hair and also by the feet, and threw him in the old draw well fifty fathoms deep."
Medieval folk song "Little Sir Hugh"
This was all I could think of. My sisters are watching Divine Comedy music videos right now, making it very hard to think of songs.

Re: Encore - Two Colors
I'm gonna go ahead and use this one:
It was red and yellow and green and brown and scarlet and black and ochre and peach and ruby and olive and violet and fawn and lilac and gold and chocolate and mauve (and) cream and crimson and silver and rose and azure and lemon and russet and grey and purple and white and pink and orange and BLUE!
I know I got at least eight words right.
