Yeah. Buy it from the harbor. Same with lumber; that's how you repair without going to a shipyard. You can just anchor and repair. But aren't you playing as Ali? Why the devil would you be getting into battles with him? You should avoid fighting at all costs. He sucks at it.

I know I should! But there was the pirate following me around and I had like 150 ingots and couldn't put more in the bank and I wasn't just going to give up!

So he killed me five times while I wondered (loudly) why I couldn't fire my cannons, and then as soon as I realized I needed gunpowder, I managed to flee and he hasn't bothered me since.

Meh.

Yeah, journal club is a really good idea in theory, but in practice it's a never-ending disaster.
