Re: Encore-Numbers
When this topic appears in the Encore cards, it has stipulations: numbers 1-10, numbers over 100, that sort of thing. I was a little surprised that you left it open to all numbers.Katya wrote:It does seem to be the topic that will not die.Dead Cat wrote:Wow, this seems to be an easy topic. The Epistler was quite honestly knocked on her ethereal behind by the sheer logic of this.

"Seventeen, eighteen, craving the fanning of a flame"
"The Fire of God," Kenneth Cope
Yeah, I was surprised too. I think I'd be okay if we changed the rules at this point to be a little more stringent, even though you didn't specify that at the first. Just because this has gone over a week and I still have two songs in line (if I didn't mess up these lyrics).
Edit: Rats, (well, actually, it's hard to tell. I don't think the lyrics I found online are right either) it should've been "the flame". I'll check on that for sure.

Re: Encore-Numbers
"Friday night went to grab a bite / He got down on one knee. I must confess I said yes / I could care less what you think."
Divine Comedy, "Single Ladies"
"Can't you see that I'm the one who understands you / Been here all along, so why can't you see you belong with me."
Taylor Swift, "You Belong With Me"
Yes, let's go ahead and change it now if we feel the need. I take back what I said earlier about sucking it up. ; )

I forgot the "Just". Sad. Adios, amigos.
Re: Encore-Numbers
Are there any suggestions about how to limit it?
Re: Encore-Numbers
No, you're OK! We play that you have to have 8 words in a row correct and you've got the last nine OK, which includes the keyword "thousand." (Except I always thought it was "be the man who walks a thousand miles," but the interwebz says you're right.)Defy V wrote:". . . Re: Encore-Numbers
"One a penny, two a penny, hot cross buns."
As for it being too easy, I'm loving it. I've actually stayed in more than one round! And sadly, every day I think it's the day I'm going to get out, but then I actually think of a song. I guess… it's nice for it to be too easy on the experts every once in awhile so that I can participate.

Re: Encore-Numbers
I agree that this is also an issue. If the same people keep winning the next few games, maybe we'll look into handicapping options.Dragon Lady wrote:I guess… it's nice for it to be too easy on the experts every once in awhile so that I can participate.
Re: Encore-Numbers
It's official; I'm out.
I think that as long as we have the rule that the theme setter can't win, and neither can the person that won the last round, we'll get enough variety in the winners to be at least slightly interesting.

"Ninety-nine bottles of beer on the wall, ninety-nine bottles of beer."

That could work. Unless we start getting a 3-person rotation.C is for wrote:I think that as long as we have the rule that the theme setter can't win, and neither can the person that won the last round, we'll get enough variety in the winners to be at least slightly interesting.
Re: Encore-Numbers
How about I come up with a restriction of the day you have to adhere to (example: number must be divisible by five)? Are you guys cool with doing that, or should I think of somethining else?

That sounds fine to me. (If we last another week with it, we can revisit it.

[shrug] Sure? It'll probably eliminate me pretty quickly, though, but that's ok. I assume this'll start tomorrow?Dead Cat wrote:How about I come up with a restriction of the day you have to adhere to (example: number must be divisible by five)? I'm also okay with changing it up.
