Broadway Tickets
Broadway Tickets
Anyone know a good way to get Broadway tickets cheap? I don't have the time to research it. I'm looking to go mid-next month and want to see Wicked specifically. (Reminder: I am a guy. Don't want anyone thinking my nym is female because I failed to disclose properly.)

broadwaybox.com
They're all pretty expensive though, with most being over $100.

Haha, I would be shocked if you found affordable tickets to Wicked in less than one month's time. I laugh because...it's the biggest show in the biggest city in the US.
Okay, sorry, laughing over. Whenever I see shows, I use ticktmaster.com, stubhub.com, broadwaybox.com, or nytix.com. Stubhub's prices are decent but it's a show you really want good seats for. Check these out: http://www.stubhub.com/wicked-broadway-tickets/

Consider me sufficiently ridiculed. Do you have any insight on optimal timing and method for getting the best price on a ticket?
Re: Broadway Tickets
You aren't going to find good prices until the shows wane in popularity. That's just how the cookie crumbles. For example, I saw Phantom this past summer for $80 and had fantastic seats. But, the show was well off the square and probably won't play for much longer. Wicked, on the other hand, is right on the square and is still raking in the dough. If you want to see a Broadway play for little money, see a different play.
Again, sorry. I really want to see Wicked as well but...I'm content to wait a couple years. Also, I loath Times Square and do everything in my power to avoid it.

I also loathe Times Square. It's WAY too full of tourists. Anyway.
I'd recommend seeing Wonderland, In the Heights, The Lion King, West Side Story, or the Addams Family. All will be pretty expensive, though, but should be a bit better than Wicked as far as price goes.

No. You should definitely go see Spamalot. A few years ago my husband and I got third row seats for about $100 each (and I imagine these days you could find a much better deal). Considering I caught the Lady of the Lake's wedding bouquet at the end, it was definitely worth it.

I have not heard good things about Wonderland. At all. And I even love most things Frank Wildhorn. But I like the other choices. Also, I would go see Anything Goes but that's mostly because I've tried multiple times to see Sutton Foster and she's always out the nights I go (which meant sitting through Young Frankenstein with my dad which was BEYOND uncomfortable). Also it has catchy music and a completely ridiculous plot (and the stage version is a million times better than the movie). What more could you want?
Re: Broadway Tickets
In the Heights and Spamalot are closed. Westside might be closed as well.
If you're willing to stand in line and carry cash for a bit, you can try the TKTS booth. The seats are always good, and very inexpensive, but I don't think Wicked gives tickets to TKTS. If you really want to see that, give up on getting cheap tickets, and just buy them. Trust me, it's worth every penny. Other than that, I'd just hit up the TKTS booth for tickets to The Lion King because that show is AMAZINGSAUCE!! Too bad Julie Taymor ruined her rep with Spiderman.
