I will... make... bracelets...? Seriously, I can't think of a way I'd really be helpful in this community. I suppose I'll just help Marduk in whatever he's doing?
The Epistler was quite honestly knocked on her ethereal behind by the sheer logic of this.

Yeah, that's my problem too. I guess I could always babysit, but I don't even know if I'm good at that.bobtheenchantedone wrote:I will... make... bracelets...? Seriously, I can't think of a way I'd really be helpful in this community.

Some people have strengths that don't fit into neatly defined slots. Show up and we'll put you to work.C is for wrote:Yeah, that's my problem too. Hooray for working! Also, if no one's claimed this yet, I remembered that I could lead the community choir.

You're welcome to it. I probably could if I had to but I'm burnt out from 2 years of ward choir director duties. I'll just do instrumental music.bobtheenchantedone wrote:Hooray for working! Also, if no one's claimed this yet, I remembered that I could lead the community choir.

Re: Let Us All Live in Peace and Love Together
I will be the designated Favorite Aunt, a title I have acquired from allowing small boys to frost cakes with me, make pumpkin bread, dig in the dirt, run through sprinklers, endure twelve hour car rides full of vomit, diarrhea, and peeing in the car while stuck in a traffic jam on the freeway, sending packages with books, and allowing myriad sleepovers with Aunt Wisteria (I almost put my real name there- not that it would be that terrible).
Also, I can assist in the restaurant and my training makes me a shoe-in for a section leader in the choir, and I can lead campouts and organize a community garden and run the local genetics lab. Apparently I'm feeling like I have to prove my worth in this community.

Um... I can help Katya in the library, and maybe finish learning how to tune pianos. And cook food.
Re: Let Us All Live in Peace and Love Together
Tuning pianos is an excellent skill
Re: Let Us All Live in Peace and Love Together
Did you take that piano tuning workshop at BYU? I always wanted to do that.Whistler wrote:Um... I can help Katya in the library, and maybe finish learning how to tune pianos. And cook food.
Re: Let Us All Live in Peace and Love Together
I didn't know there was a workshop! That'd be awesome. Not that I mind playing out-of-tune pianos too much (you'd think with perfect pitch it would irk me more) but it would definitely be a useful skill to have. The high school choir teacher could pay me, and not some guy that doesn't return calls. (He does pay me, but he'd pay me more to tune the piano than to tickle it.)
Re: Let Us All Live in Peace and Love Together
There was a workshop one summer, which I had to work out with the piano shop guys (not an official BYU thing). It cost a few hundred dollars, but they let me practice/"help out" almost any time I wanted to, and it included I think four Saturdays of all-day instruction (one of the students lived in northern Utah, hence the large chunks). I'm not sure if they've repeated it, but it can't hurt to ask Keith or Jim (Keith seems to be more the business side of things): http://mckinley.byu.edu/music/piano_sho ... tudent.php
