Favorite Traits

Post by C is for »

I was thinking about this here question earlier and how I'd like to hear from more people what they're into when it comes to folk of the opposite gender. Because I love that kind of stuff. So....?

I'm usually immediately attracted to tall skinny people. With glasses. And dark hair. Basically, Harry Potter. I love me some Harry Potter look-alikes. But most (if not all) of my long-term crushes and relationships have included stockier gentlemen (I would put Dan Radcliffe as stockier, by the way). In general, dark hair is still my favorite (though I've never dated anyone with dark hair). Intense eyes of any color work wonders too.

I love it when guys are funny but not in a mean way. When I can tell that they care about other people (preferably including me).

And other things, probably. Once other people chime in I'm sure I'll remember some other things I appreciate. It's just been so long since I've paid attention to any guys I don't know what they're like.

I have always had a thing for guys with curly hair. Never really dated one - Mr. 42 started to go bald and now just has his head shaved. But we like to joke about it. I can't really remember too many other requirements, since it has been so long . . . oh, but I knew I needed a guy who was decisive. I am horribly indecisive, so I am so grateful that Mr. 42 just makes decisions and goes with it.

I'm sort of intimidated by tall people, hence the reason my husband is only 5'6".

In general, I have also been attracted to tall, skinny guys. Marduk is one of those...

I could have written this myself. The tall, skinny nerd - especially dark-haired - was always my type. A beard is a plus and a good sense of humor is a must. And I married me one.

Me? SKINNY? In what world? Is that a hint, woman?

For me, the thing I've always most appreciated superficially is a dry, ascerbic wit. Basically if you can make a humorous reference to Cappadocian Fairy Chimneys in common conversation, I'm going to think you're hot. Also, a .7 ratio.

Less superficially, a kind and loving heart, and openness to new ideas are critical to me. That's.... that's about it.

I died when I read this. Not literally, of course, but you know what I mean.

Anyway, I find myself attracted to intelligence, a wry sense of humor covered by smothering sweetness, and brunettes.

Wow, it's a good thing I am kind and open to new ideas. Witty I am not, dry or otherwise. Or at least not very often. I'd like to believe that I have my moments.

I would bring this more on topic with other things I have been attracted to in the past, but Marduk isn't too many of those so I don't think it's a good idea. And I could list more traits he has that I'm attracted to, but then I'll get kicked out of the thread for being too syrupy. So I guess I'm out.

i am attracted to tall, skinny, gangly nerdy types, but have never dated one seriously. i'm DYING to though.

in terms of personality, i like good conversationalists and guys with a silly streak. i also like guys who can take care of themselves, because that means they'll be able to provide for a family. i'd love to meet a guy who can cook and would fold laundry. and a guy who isn't afraid to at least hold hands in public.

I've never dated someone skinny before. I guess it's good that I'm open to new ideas.

I like smart guys who I can have a conversation with who have a good head of hair (I have a thing for redheads, but my husband is a brunette. I can deal.).
