But only if you think pulling teeth for details is fun!
It's such a fine line between fun, cute stories and mushy mush mush! But I think I relish in the sappy details a little more than LJ does, so if he's not giving you enough information, I can definitely fill in any gaps (I think I'm missing lots of people on gchat, but it's just [email protected], if anyone ever wants to chat!)

And if anyone actually gets me a paper bag with a veil, I will see to it that we do an actual paper bag photo. :D Scout's honor!

Or you should start a blog and write up all the mushy details! So then you don't have to tell it 12 times, plus you get a record of it to keep.

But seriously. LJ is just so bad at telling details willingly. I've always had to pry them out of him. Unless he was having girl problems. Then he could tell me relevant details without any problems. Glad that phase of his life is over, though, despite the easier conversations. ;)

Eirene, are you going to have a dinner reception? If so, will be it vegetarian? Laser Jock is a meat-eater, if I recall.

I've been mostly eating vegetarian these days, particularly around Eirene. That said, yes, there's a dinner reception planned, and there are two vegetarian options and one meat-based option, if I remember right.

I would choose to eat vegetarian around her, too. Her policy has always been "I will eat you if you eat an animal around me."

I hope all of your dinner guests know that the meat-based option is a trap.

I hope LJ realizes that he's apparently marrying a cannibal. :)

Dear Eirene ~

How does this work, exactly?

@DL:

Theory the first

Step one: catch offender.
Step two: beat offender severely.
Step three: evaluate offender for vegetative condition.
Step four: eat vegetable.

Theory the second

Worse. Much, much worse.
He who knows others is clever;
He who knows himself has discernment.
He who overcomes others has force;
He who overcomes himself is strong. 33:1-4

I have an exemption policy for friends and family. They don't get cannibalized; they just get dirty looks. (kidding!) (I only judge them on the inside.) (kidding again! eat whatever you want, folks)

And we actually are having a meat-free reception, but we did leave one meat option for our rehearsal dinner :D

Oh, yeah, I mistakenly answered about the rehearsal dinner. :) The reception isn't a meal, and the food there is meat free, as Eirene said.

See, if I had a hypothetical reception, it would be the opposite. There would be free meat everywhere.

How do you have a rehearsal dinner if you're getting married in the temple? I've always thought the idea was cool, but thought the luncheon replaced it in (Intermountain West) Mormon culture.

I guess we're not actually rehearsing anything beforehand, but we're just having a private dinner for family and wedding party the night before the actual wedding and calling it a "rehearsal dinner," and then an hors d'oeuvres and desserts reception after the ceremony. The luncheon thing is pretty popular, though, isn't it?

Incidentally, it took both of us like six tries each to get "hors d'oeuvres" spelled right. So many vowels!

And that's why my degree in French literature is useful! 8-) (You can also spell it "hors d'œuvres," if you're inclined to be super fancy.)

LJ and Eirene, you'll have to tell me how this works, because I have wondered. My little sister is a vegetarian for moral purposes; she believes the mistreatment of animals in food industry is horrendously wrong. She had a boyfriend for a long time and she essentially forced him into being a vegetarian. Even when they went somewhere to eat, he had to get vegetarian or suffer her wrath. Eirene, do you insist on LJ eating vegetarian or LJ do you eat vegetarian out of sympathy toward Eirene? Have you guys had a "talk" about vegetarianism in the future, whether your kids will be vegetarians, etc.? I ask because I'm curious how insane my little sister is.

The same place I always am these days.

Anyway, I was a vegetarian for a good amount of time, and that overlapped with my dating this guy for a good long time. It sounds like I was a vegetarian for the same-ish reasons as your sister. It hurts my tender soul how animals are treated, pre-slaughter. My ex-boyfriend continued to eat meat whenever he felt like it, and that was fine by me, but then again I'm not the pressure-putting-on type. We were never engaged, but that wasn't for a lack of trying from one of us at various times. Anyway, the only time my boyfriend ate a vegetarian (or, more precisely, pescetarian) diet was when I cooked for him and our breakup had nothing to do with my vegetarian diet or his lack of one. Your story startles me, honestly, because that was not my experience at all.

But, to be fair, the reason I am not currently a vegetarian has a lot to do with a girl I was dating-ish. I have yet to get back with it. Relationships do funny things to us.
