I got money when I graduated from high school. I sent the same people money when I graduated from college and didn't receive a dime. So you can pretend the same thing would have happened to you.

I only walked in all three of my graduates because I knew my mom wanted to see it. 2 of her sons graduated from BYU and didn't walk and she always felt like she was missing out. I debated and debated and finally decided to do it at BYU. (High school was a given. Everyone was doing it. And with 63 in your graduating class, everyone knows. BYU-I I just went along with it because, well, weren't you supposed to? I was bored out of my mind.) I have no intention of pressuring any of my kids to walk.

DL, that's the same reason I walked at my graduation this year. Both my brothers didn't walk, so I figured I better do it. :)

You sent the same people "announcements," you mean?

I should clarify, I had plenty of family members who knew I was graduating and came to my graduation, because they were local, but I'm pretty sure none of them gave me money. I think I just don't come from a "randomly giving people money" kind of family. (Most of my aunts and uncles have a bunch of kids and most of them don't make a lot of money, so I don't see why they'd have any to spare for me just for finishing my degree. And most of the grandkids have gone to college, so it's not like it's a big deal. I just think it's interesting to realize that some people grow up with completely different family norms and expectations in situations you wouldn't even think of.)

Yes. Yes. That is what I meant. Thanks for correcting me. :)

And it was rather common in my high school. Almost everyone (but not everyone. I had some jealous peers) received money upon graduating from high school. I think I got a total of about $200-300. If I remember correctly.
