I probably have had way cooler gadgets than you in my life. Nevertheless, my brand spanking new Microsoft Surface is far and beyond the coolest and most fun to own.

Math can--and should--go jump off a cliff somewhere in the middle of nowhere on the other side of the world.

I am thinking very mean things at you right now.

Because of his math status or because he used freakishly tiny font?yayfulness wrote:I am thinking very mean things at you right now.

I increased my original font size decision from 5 to 25! Give me a break! (I'm done with science, too.)

Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
I'm debating to what to do with my 10th grade English classes for Halloween.
I might read them the Gashlycrumb Tinies or the Object Lesson by Edward Gorey, I'm considering Porphyria's Lover by Robert Browning, or I could always do a Poe. Or have them come up with the plot for a good scary movie, or work on a collaborative scary story. And if I get really ambitious, I might use it as a lead-in to the book Speak, which we're just about to start--it starts with her first day of high school, and it's got some dark humor about how scary high school is.
Anything you guys did for Halloween in high school English you particularly liked?

I can't remember... maybe we read some Poe? I think we might have just stuck to the schedule and our teacher gave us candy or something.

For Thanksgiving one year in seminary, we watched the “Thanksgiving" episode of an old TV show called "Amazing Stories". I think it's on Netflix now. Highly recommend.

Math is fun. I will tutor anyone here who struggles as long as you pay me.
And Uffish, my school had a rather involved reading of "The Raven" at assembly, and a performance of Thriller.

I thought I was done with math forever. Then I took the GRE and had to re-learn algebra (cause I thought I would go to grad school eventually, but it hasn't turned out that way). And NOW I'm teaching six and seventh grade math for at least six weeks and am shocked by how much I don't hate it.

Just found this and found it utterly hilarious.

When I saw a commercial for the new Red Dawn movie, the first thing I thought was whoa, Thor shrunk! He didn't seem to have obviously fake muscles like, for example, the Juggernaut character in X2, and I actually thought that actor was bigger.

He's pretty tall (6' 3") and I think he just had to work out a ton to get into shape for Thor and The Avengers. (Or maybe not the latter, since he had his armor on the whole time for that one, right?)Digit wrote:When I saw a commercial for the new Red Dawn movie, the first thing I thought was whoa, Thor shrunk! He didn't look hugely ripped in Star Trek, though, so I wouldn't be surprised if that was his normal physique.

In continuation of what appears to be a trend, I should be banned from the archives after midnight. After 11, actually, Sunday through Wednesday.
