"Anything we can do for you?"
I've actually been tempted to request food or baked goods, or rides, but I never have.
Re: "Anything we can do for you?"
I've asked my VTs to help me prepare stuff for ward Christmas parties and to bring me pedialyte when my kids were barfing every fifteen minutes and Sauron was at school an hour's bus drive away and I had no way to get some hydration into them. And, of course, I've asked for blessings from HTs. It's pretty nice to have someone who you don't feel quite so bad asking for those little favors.
Re: "Anything we can do for you?"
Sometimes I try to think of something, even if it's just "pray for me." For a while when I was doing inkblot research I would ask my VTs and HTs to take the inkblot test from me.

I tried to suggest mine help me by fixing a sparking outlet, but he just explained what was probably wrong with it.

The best thing my home teachers could do for me is let me know that they exist, and who they are. After living on my own in a variety of different wards for... wow, sixteen years now, I've had exactly one set of faithful home teachers and they only lasted about six months. The rest of the time I would get maybe one phone call a year with appointments scheduled that were never kept (tip: if you can't make it don't make the appointment, don't make the appointment and force me to engage in frantic house-cleaning and clearing my schedule only to have nobody show up at the door). As a single woman I would dearly love to have access to priesthood blessings and even simple stuff like someone tall to put up Christmas lights on my house, but I don't even know if I have home teachers assigned to me right now. (I assume so, but I don't know from personal experience.)

You could always ask a member of the Elder's Quorum presidency who they are.

I could. And I have done so in the past. But at this point I've pretty much given up.Talons wrote:You could always ask a member of the Elder's Quorum presidency who they are.

Re: "Anything we can do for you?"
I had a roommate who made an art out of asking for the best favors from her home teachers. Once, she and my other roommate were being home-taught by the two most attractive guys in the ward. When they asked if they could do anything for them, she replied, "Yes. Neither of us go on dates much. Will the two of you take us on a double date? You can choose who is with who." The boys took them on a date, everyone had a wonderful time, and they became good friends of the apartment. Another time she had a home teacher who was really into ceramics and she commissioned him to make her a cereal bowl. It turned out beautifully, and I ate my Honey Bunches of Oats out of it for about a year until she finally moved and took the bowl with her.
Moral of the story being: get creative when they ask you this question. It makes for good times for everybody.
