A VERY large man wedged himself into the middle seat in my row. He was so big that the armrests were straining--he asked if he could put them up, and I said yes. And then of course we were so close that our legs were touching, and his hand (although it was tight against his leg) was against the side of mine. Later he slowly moved his hand along my leg and tried to bring it to rest on the top of my leg. When I gave him a weird look, he said "is it okay if I put my hand here on your leg?" What?! No! Luckily he didn't try that one again, but he did keep trying to talk to me when I was making it as clear as I politely could that I wasn't interested in conversation. He complained to me a few times that I wasn't talking to him, and I told him just as many times that I just wanted to read my book, thanks. He told me I was pretty. He asked my name. He took any time I stopped looking at the page and looked out the window as an opportunity to be my new best friend. When I tried to go to sleep, he accepted peanuts for me and then shook me awake to give them to me, and when I declined he complained that he just wanted to get to know me. He was so soft-spoken that I had to ask him to repeat anything he asked, which meant I could pretend not to have heard him fairly easily. When we finally landed, he said something about it being nice to meet me, and rubbed my arm, and I ignored him.

I feel a little guiltly for giving this guy the increasingly cold shoulder, but I've also never met anyone as unable or unwilling to keep his hands to himself and let me read my book. I've still kind of got the jibblies.
This is sexual harassment, and it makes me sick that women have to justify ownership of their bodies and personal space in the public arena. I'm a notorious flirt, and you don't see me not taking signals and putting my hands all up on hot guy's thighs. Boo sexism.
Preach it, sister.

I decided that while ward, institute, and stake choirs are all well and good, I miss singing secular choral music. So I'm organizing a real choir for anyone who has graduated from high school near where I live. I'm so excited.

Also, if you know anyone in "The East Valley", AZ who you think would be interested, let me know.

What changes have come to pass in the four years I've been away from alma mater dearest?

Heritage Halls appears to be completely different. The former KMB is an empty field with no lab building in sight. As steen put it, apparently every girl is wearing colored skinny jeans (I will date myself with my bootcuts and dresses/tights combos, no doubt).

How old are the guys? The girls? Are lines insane everywhere (I'm super nervous about this for some reason.) Is periodicals still the place to flirt? The HFAC has seemed gloriously unchanged when I've been back.

Most important, WHY HAVE RENTS RISEN SO MUCH while wages have not budged a cent? Boooo.

Is there some kind of "trend" like Jimmer-mania I should get on board with? Also (and yes, this is coming from me, hahaha), I feel like there are more and more, um, edgy opinions being voiced, like on this The Student Review website, which is pretty much all liberal people complaining about BYU policies, as far as I can tell. Is this like, okay now? Considering that I was part of a debate team that got shut down by the administrators without so much as a say-so, I'm not really sure what to make of some kind of insurrectionist movement. I'm going to lie low and not make waves, that's for sure. Although I do have an essay in the works about rape culture in Provo. Though I hardly would call that incendiary; I hope it's something that we all can agree on.

I guess I sound old and curmudgeonly. "Being liberal at BYU used to mean you leave if you don't like it, and I left, twenty-year-olds with an internet connection!" Although I do think griping and looking for negatives has its dangers.

So guess who is literally immune to sedative? And partially immune to pain meds? Ugh, that was awful.

On the plus side, I feel 100% okay now, other than having complete chipmunk face.

This whole thing. I can't stop... Well... Not laughing, per se. But internet laughing, where you kind of snort more air out of your nose than usual.

Teehehehe!!! I'm giggling like for reals. :) Weird thing is, feeling like a part of Mormon jokes makes me want to go to church, but then I think of Seinfeld saying "he's in it for the jokes," and I wonder if that's the only reason I want to go. :P

Dear my roommate:

If, as you tell your boyfriend, you were nearly weak and "noxious" and nearly passing out at the end of your 45 minute workout because you hadn't eaten enough, I think you're wrong when you say you need to be cutting back on carbs and meat. Adding veggies is fine, but you don't have much fat on you, and you need SOMETHING to keep you going.

Maybe. But we're not good enough friends for her to hear it from me. Most of what I know about her comes from her half of phone conversations with her boyfriend, and she's angry enough in those that I can tell she wouldn't take my advice well. I don't think she'll actually damage herself too much, and my attitude is kind of like my dad's. "If you don't eat well, you'll get sick, and that will teach you to eat better."
