I got an A-minus in Chem 105, without too much effort. Of course, I had taken the AP which covered the same material and gotten a "5." Inorganic ain't nothing compared to organic chem*, so if you have to take that to be a PT, you may want to reconsider your field. I kept my scholarship just fine with the course, and I wouldn't consider myself a stellar student or anything.
It depends how solid your high school chem curriculum was. I also don't think being split by a mission is too big a deal. Get a good student in the class to tutor you. That's what I did for my physics courses, which I found more difficult than chem, and managed A-minuses.
