She was in her early 50's, which just feels too young for a heart attack.Emiliana wrote:Wow, I bet. Was she older? My professor -- who was also my boss and an elder at my church -- was 58 but looked 45. Crazy stuff.Genuine Article wrote:A few years ago I went to make an appointment with my doctor using the BYU Health Center's online scheduling mcjigger, but after selecting my doctor's name from the list it kept not letting me select a date for an appointment. I figured it was broken so I called them instead, only to find out from a receptionist that my doctor had passed away! Apparently she'd stopped to buy gas after going grocery shopping and had a heart attack in the front seat of her car. I was in complete shock. There's something about having your doctor, who advises you on health matters, die that's very unnerving.Emiliana wrote:I just found out that one of my favorite professors from college died yesterday of a heart attack while playing racquetball. He'd played racquetball every Thursday for more than a decade.

I currently feel like I have the gift of interpretation of tongues. I'm reading doctor's handwriting that SHOULD NOT BE LEGIBLE, and it's not even difficult. What.

Congratulations! We should have a party.

I'm licensed to teach high school English! and I just applied to be a substitute teacher so that I can work in the meantime.
That's enough productivity for today, I think.

Joined all the cool kids I know and got a library job, have a hot date to Sundance, have at least done the major assignments for my classes, and I turn 25 in two days. This year is already better on day 17 than last year was altogether.

Exciting news! I know Emiliana has worked as a sub. Is it enjoyable? Insane?UffishThought wrote:I'm licensed to teach high school English! and I just applied to be a substitute teacher so that I can work in the meantime.

Oh! I have a friend who produced a film there! It's called "Blue Caprice." Go see it and tell me how it is!

Note to self: do not read FMH late at night and then get on Facebook. Apparently it causes a lot of trolling. The angry is so much more difficult to deal with when I'm tired.
The Epistler was quite honestly knocked on her ethereal behind by the sheer logic of this.

Did the thread bump send you there, too? It led me to a really interesting discussion with a friend on polygamy and the nature of temporal and eternal relationships in general.bobtheenchantedone wrote:Note to self: do not read FMH late at night and then get on Facebook. Yep, I've been subbing for the past year and a half and it's awesome. I've thought about finishing my certification so I can have a real income, but subbing is so much easier and so much more fun that I keep putting it off....Portia wrote:Exciting news! Yep. Funny, because the thing I wanted to discuss was also polygamy; I finally decided to not post a comment because the post was like a week or two old. But then I wanted to comment on something and I ended up reading forever trying to find something and then just stomping all over FB.yayfulness wrote:Did the thread bump send you there, too? So at my temp job I'm on a PC using Internet Explorer, and the pop-ups are weirding me out. I honestly forgot these happened.

You could use Firefox in a virtual Ubuntu machine inside your IE browser.Zedability wrote:So at my temp job I'm on a PC using Internet Explorer, and the pop-ups are weirding me out. I honestly forgot these happened.

The HBLL! In the same department my best friend worked in. I'll keep my eyes peeled for cool signatures. I'd be happy to help any Board writers, too.Katya wrote:Which library?Portia wrote:Joined all the cool kids I know and got a library job, have a hot date to Sundance, have at least done the major assignments for my classes, and I turn 25 in two days. Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
I sent out an email. It said, in essence "if you would like to carpool/roomshare in City X on trip Y, please send an email to Account Z, whereupon you will get a survey to fill out so we can know what you're looking for. (room, carpool, etc.)"
I get probably 15 responses requesting the survey.
5 people have filled it out. And one of them didn't actually need a ride or a room. They just wanted to let me know what their situation was. And none of them are guys, so I'm still up a creek without a paddle, footing a whole hotel room for myself. That I won't spend any time in except for sleeping a couple night and MAYBE a couple hours one day if I can't find anything else to do. The rest of our time is all planned out. Lame.
tl;dr I hate people.

if it's a large enough city they might have a hostel (I stayed in one when I went to Flagstaff for a conference)

I love Santa Monica's youth hostel.
